All eyes are on Samsung as they will be unveiling their S-series flagship later this month. Galaxy S8 will be the first flagship that the tech giant will announce after the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, which the company handled with grace. Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities has predicted that Samsung will launch Galaxy S8 on April 21st. Ming-Chi Kuo is known for his predictions related to Apple products but this time around he has something related to Samsung for the investors.
Initially Galaxy S8 was set for a global launch on April 21st, then a few days ago, a report out of South Korea suggested that the launch will be delayed for a week and the smartphone will it the shelves on April 28th. The low yield for the 10nm chipset used was looked at one of the reasons for the delay.
Ming-Chi Kuo also conformed some other aspects for Galaxy S8. Samsung as we know announces two variants for the S-series flagship which this time around will be, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. As the spec sheets for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ have leaked earlier, Kuo’s info confirms what are already know. Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will come with a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch, 2960 x 2400 WQHD + OLED display respectively.
The smartphones will feature a 12MP main dual pixel camera and an 8MP selfie shooter. Galaxy S8 will be powered by a 3000mAh battery and Galaxy S8+ will have a 3500mAh battery on board. Variants that will be sold in China, Japan and United States will have the Snapdragon 835 SoC under the hood and the rest of variants launching globally will have the Exynos 8895 chipset on board. In terms of storage capacity, the devices will have a 4GB RAM but the handsets arriving in China and South Korea will have a 6GB RAM. Due to extensive competition from local brands which are already offering this feature, Samsung cannot put itself at a disadvantage.
According to Kuo Samsung will be improving the color palette and by offering consumers a wide variety of choice. Galaxy S8 may come in Matte Black, Bright Black, Silver, Gold, Orchid, Blue and Pink. The Black colored variant has been seen in different leaked images. Along with that Galaxy S8 is predicted to sell 40-45-million units which is lower than Galaxy S7, which sold 52 million units. But one has to keep this aspect in mind that Galaxy S7 was the only flagship last year, so in the absence of Galaxy Note 7, people either opted for Galaxy S7 or another smartphone.
At the moment all of these are just predictions, we will get to know more about the color choices and the internal specs on the day of the official announcement which is not far.
