Samsung Impresses at the MWC with Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge

Samsung never fails to deliver and this is what they did for the Mobile World Congress unpacked event. Their presentation no doubt was impressive keeping in tune with the theme of the event which was futuristic innovations. As we have said before hand Samsung is one company that always innovates and brings something new to the table and they have done that this time around too. People may criticize that the Samsung pops out a lot of products which look the same, they also need to give Samsung the credit for many innovative firsts too.

For the new flagships the company went back to the drawing board and decided to work on it from scratch. Their work seems to have paid off in the form of two beautiful, sleek and powerful devices, Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. The company spokesperson said that with the new flagship they have ‘redefined the brand’ and that is true.

Galaxy S6

With the Galaxy S6, Samsung has turned a new chapter in the S-series flagship. A sleek metal unibody is the first impression that the device leaves in your mind. The device is protected by Gorilla Glass 4 at the front and back making it one of the most toughest devices on the market right now. They even mocked Apple when they said ‘it does not bend’. With sleek devices this is one of the main concerns, well if you had this in your mind for the Galaxy S6 flagship, rest assured the company has covered all aspects well.

The smartphone sports a 5.1-inch Quad UD resolution display. It will take the pixel density to 577ppi making the display clear, crisp and sharp. The device is powered by 64-bit Exynos chipset. It is one of the first processors built on 14-nanometer architecture. Along with a powerful processor, it is equipped with a 3GB RAM and 32 GB, 64 GB and I28 GB internal storage options. There is a question though, why didn’t Samsung go for a 4 GB RAM?

Well let’s have a look at the camera, as that is one of the main functions of our devices currently. With HTC coming out with a 20-megapixel camera, some people may get miffed at Samsung’s 16-megapixel main camera. At the end of the day performace and the features associated with camera matters. One new feature that Samsung introduced this time around is that by just double tapping the home button the camera turns on, no need to find the camera app now, just double tap and you are ready. It has F 1.9 aperture and along with that Optical Image Stabilization is also present. It can take great shots at low light as well. Samsung has also added the Object Tracking Function in the device too. The selfie shooter is 5 megapixel with a F 1.9 aperture. The camera also has automatic real-time HDR.

The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge run on Android 5.0 Lollipop and TouchWiz user interface. The company has improved and tweaked the TouchWiz too by removing unnecessary software functions and making things simple. Samsung says that they have listened to what people had to say and worked on these suggestions.

The device will be available in 20 countries from 10^th April and it will cost around $650- $700. It will be available in four jewel toned color options: White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum and Blue Topaz. Galaxy S6 Edge

Galaxy S6 Edge is the world’s first dual-sided curved display. There is no doubt it is a really beautiful device. The craftsmanship is impeccable and the credit goes to Samsung for thinking out of the box and producing a futuristic device. The device seem to fit Samsung’s tagline for the event ‘Next is Now’.

Galaxy S6 Edge shares the rest of the features with Galaxy S6 but there is a difference too. The curved display of the device is not for decoration but the company has allotted some special features to the space. It will offer you quick access to contacts, apps and notifications. Users will also be able to assign colors to five of their contacts and whenever those contacts call, email or text them that color will start glowing through the edges. Users will also be able to decline calls just by swiping the finger at the heart rate scanner sensor.

Samsung Pay

As we predicted Samsung did indeed introduce the SamsungPay service at the MWC platform. A few weeks back Samsung bought LoopPay and stated that upcoming Samsung’s devices will have the mobile payment option and yes they do. SamsungPay is very different from ApplePay as it does not depend on NFC and for making the transactions easier, the company has partnered with VisaCard to get their system going. The SamsungPay technology can be used at vendors who accept credit card, debit card and also NFC. Their service makes the device your wallet in which through built-in finger print sensors people will be able to start the payment process. Samsung Pay will first be introduced in US and South Korea and then we will see it expand to other global markets as well.

Samsung has indeed impressed us with their MWC event, their devices are impeccable and it is indeed the ‘beginning of a whole new Galaxy’. Samsung apart from the above mentioned devices and services is also introducing the wireless charging technology built-in the devices and a new Gear VR has been designed to support Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Samsung Pokes Fun At Apple In Its Unpacked Event

“We’ve built our phones using the metal that won’t bend”, this is what Samsung presenters said on stage while they were unveiling their latest smartphones, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. It looks like Samsung was waiting patiently to take it seriously hard on Apple, and it made full use of its unpacked event today. At first, Samsung criticized Apple over the bendgate issue, and then they compared the phone’s battery timing and explained how Samsung Galaxy S6 is a better choice over the iPhone 6. Apart from the battery comparison, Samsung also compared the camera result of the iPhone 6 and Galaxy S6.

iPhone 6’s result seems to be pretty poor in low light, while under the same conditions, the Galaxy S6 takes a picture that is much more brighter and clear. The Galaxy S6 has 5 MP shooter fixed on the front and a 16 MP shooter fixed at the back with f/1.9 aperture, smart OIS, real time HDR mode and some other features. Both these devices are built with all metal, Samsung has ditched its traditional plastic built finally. These devices sport a 5.1 inch QHD display on the front having 577 ppi. Atop of the screen, there’s a 5 MP camera and a 16 MP camera sensor is fixed at the back. Samsung fueled this device up with its Exynos 7420 Chipset based on 64 bit architecture. Galaxy S6 has 3 GB DDR4 RAM. There’s a 2550 mAh in-built battery that takes around 10 minutes to charge it for the use of 4 hours. For now, Samsung has rolled out the promo video of these device. Samsung held its unpacked event today in Barcelona, Spain where it pulled the curtains off from its latest flagship, the mighty Galaxy S6. Galaxy S6 has been through a plethora of speculations, anticipations, rumors, leaks and news and the final device confirms some latest rumors/leaks as well. After the Galaxy S5, Samsung’s profits fell and Samsung faced a great criticism for not bringing up something new and something enchanting, the Galaxy S5 had the same old design, and packed up in all plastic. With the release of Samsung Galaxy S6, it looks like Samsung has learnt a great lesson and it is so anxious to jump back in the smartphone competition to gain its lost position back. Samsung’s CEO, JK Shin mentioned on the stage that Samsung listened to its customers and learn from its mistakes. We understand now that why Samsung named the Galaxy S6 project as “Project Zero”.

Samsung Galaxy S6 is all metal. Yes, Samsung has finally given up the plastic builds and apted for premium build quality this time. On the front we have a 5.1″ QHD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and a ppi of 577. Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, both have a 5 MP camera on the front and a 16 MP camera at the back.Under the hood we have a Snapdragon 810 or Samsung’s very own Exynos 7420 Chipset. The device packs up a RAM of 3 GB DDR4. Internal storage is 32 GB while there’s no external SD card slot this time. Galaxy S6 runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with an enhanced version of TouchWiz UI. Samsung has added a lot of tempting themes to the UI this time. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will be coming out in Gold Platinum, White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Green, Emerald, Blue Topaz. It has a battery of 2550 mAh. The Galaxy S6 devices take around 10 minutes to charge the battery for a use of around 4 hours, and it charges 100% in the half time as compared to that of the iPhone 6’s charging time. Galaxy S6 has an in-built battery, we believe that Samsung did this for the convenience of design.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy S6 Edge is all designed with purpose.

Samsung has focused more on the device security this time. Samsung Pay comes up as a new payment system. Samsung has also stressed on the best connectivity of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Mobile World Congress of off to a great start with HTC kicking off the event with some great new things. HTC has pulled off all stops and branded their products as ‘best available in the market’ currently. The HTC team kept the presentation simple and that is made their products shine and take center stage. HTC introduced its flagship HTC One M9, their first fitness band HTC Grip and their Virtual Reality device HTC Vive. So a lot of things to be excited about and this is just the start. Let us have a look in detail what different features do these devices sport.

HTC One M9

First off HTC’s agenda was the much anticipated HTC One M9. It is no doubt a beautiful product, even though we did get to see the leaked images and renders of the device, the actual device has its own charm. Even the HTC spokesperson said ‘beautiful design is at the forefront of our philosophy’. With the HTC One M9 the company has introduced a ‘dual-tone finish on a single unibody design’.

HTC One M9 sports a 5-inch 1080 x 1920 pixel display, no Quad HD for HTC flagship this time around. It is powered by the 64-bit Snapdragon 810 chipset , same as LG G Flex 2 along with that it has 3 GB of internal storage and 32GB or native storage that is expandable via microSD card slot upto 128 GB.

HTC seems to have upped its game in the camera department, with some serious upgrades. HTC One M9 sports a 20 megapixel main camera with sensors that have been manufactures by Toshiba. Toshiba’s sensors “utilize a proprietary square-pixel design that enables exceptionally high-quality images with low-power consumption.” So we are expecting some good results from HTC camera as well. For the selfie shooter the company has gone with the UltraPixel front camera so that it will give users the best results available.

The Sense 7.0 UI seems impressive as well. HTC has spiced up the software and they claim made it ‘smart’. The Sense 7.0 will provide users with a way to customize and optimize their experience. The Sense 7.0 UI will let users make their own themes and it will also adjust to the users mood and locations as well. If one if at the home, the theme will change along with the icons needed. People will also be able to search their pictures as well.

HTC One M9 will run on Android Lollipop 5.0 and will be powered by a 2840 mAh battery. HTC claims that it has a 21 hour talk time in 3G mode and it can survive up to 17 days on standby mode. There are some serious upgrades in the audio section as well, not only does it have BoomSound stereo but Dolby Audio 3 also optimizes the audio experience.

Well the device will start getting into markets somewhere around middle of March and will sport a price tag of somewhere around $600-700. It will be available in four different colors: Black, Silver, Gunmetal Grey and Pink.

HTC Grip

We knew that HTC will be introducing a new wearable that will be a fitness band instead of a smartwatch, and they did it. The company introduced a smart fitness band for serious athletes, the HTC Grip at the MWC unveiling. Its tag line is ‘built to move with athletes’ and the promo video showed different athletes. The tracker comes with 5 precision sensors and people can also customize their workouts and even invite up to 20 of their friends for a fitness challenge. The band comes with a curved display and the company claims that will make reading different notification really easier. The device will also be able to offer fitness and nutrition recommendations as well. It sports a 1.8-inch curved AMOLED display and will show time, distance covered and help people see different notification as well. It has a 100 mAh battery which CAN last up to five hours with GPS. The battery time may put someone off but it’s a new product and HTC can work on optimizing that in the future as well. The price and the availability of the product is not known yet.

HTC Vive

After Samsung, HTC has also introduced their own ‘virtual reality’ handset, the HTC Vive. This will definitely shake things up and bring virtual reality devices more main stream. The company has partnered with Valve, a renowned video game developer and distributor for this handset. The device makes use of 70 sensors to give a great 360 degree experience. People will be able to experience as well as interact ‘just like in real world’. The headgear will offer a variety of VR Experiences. The company’s vision for their product was

This device will be available to consumers somewhere near the end of this year and the price of this product is still not confirmed.

HTC definitely pulled off all stops and introduced great devices at the MWC. You may have noticed that there was not HTC One M9 Plus as speculated, maybe HTC will introduce something seemingly familiar in the future. HTC has finally unveiled its latest flagship, the HTC One M9 today at an event that took place in Spain. It looks like HTC won’t let any other manufacturer win in the design and build department, HTC has managed to build the most beautiful smartphone once again. HTC M9 combines the design and build of HTC M8 and HTC M7 into a completely new device. It is flat with round corners, has a full metallic hair back and mirrored-metallic sides. The device is a solid aluminium block.

The big day has begun. At HTC Utopia, HTC has finally unveiled its biggest beast and its best smartphone yet, the all new and all beautiful HTC One M9. The device look purely fabulous. It has got a flat design, as it HTC says “Design is the pursuit of inner truth”. HTC M9 combines the design of HTC One M7 and HTC One M8 and comes as a new device.

The device’s back is a polished hairline design while the sides are flat like a mirror. It’s a solid aluminium block. AT the back we have a 20 MP camera. HTC has focused more on the camera for this time. There’s a new BSI technology in the camera this time. HTC M9 has an Ultra Pixel camera on the front that takes selfies to a whole new level.
