How To Install Android 6.0 Marshmallow On Nexus 5, 6, 9 or Nexus Player [Preview 3]

Google has officially announced the name and version number of next iteration of Android. The announcement came from Google’s developer blog officially yesterday, Google also unwrapped the new Android Marshmallow Android statue at its HQ. The highly anticipated Android M stands for Android Marshmallow and the version number is going to be Android 6.0. Android M 6.0 focuses on core Android system enhancements. It brings better security, better battery life and better performance. Back in May, when Google announced Android M, it allowed its Nexus users to taste the under development developer previews. Google soon rolled out the 2nd developer preview images and now with the name and version number announcement, Google pulled out the 3rd preview of Android Marshmallow. The 3rd Android M preview contains fixes to the bugs found in previous preview builds, and is much secure to flash as compared to preview 1 and 2.

It’s obvious that whenever Google will release the very first full Android M images, the Nexus devices will be the first ones to get it, but if you still can’t wait for the update to roll out officially, you can get your hands on the upcoming Android M by flashing the Android M 3rd preview images via ADB tools. The images are safe to flash, you can easily revert back your system in case something goes wrong. In case you’re wondering how you will flash the images or if you’re new to the term ADB, you may not worry at all as we are going to show you the complete process in the following tutorial.

We are going to show you how you can install Android 6.0 Marshmallow Preview 3 on your Google Nexus 5, Google Nexus 6, Google Nexus 9 and Google Nexus Player. Let’s go ahead without any further ado and get it done now.

Here are some pre-requisites in order to make this installation safe and secure

This guide is only for Google Nexus 5, 6, 9 and Nexus Player. Do not try this tutorial on any other device. It may result in bricking it.
Your phone’s battery should be charged at least over 50%. This is recommended in order to avoid power issues during the flashing process.
Enable USB debugging mode on your device. You have to enable developer options first. You can do so by going in to settings > tap build number for 7 times. Now you will have developer options in settings. Open developer options > Enable USB debugging.
Backup all your important contacts, text messages and call logs. Also copy your media content to your PC. Backup is recommended as your device will be wiped during the flashing process.
Download and install latest Google USB drivers. Installation of these drivers will be a little different. Download the file from the attached link and unzip it. Now connect your phone to your PC. Right click “Computer or This PC > Click on Manage > Device Manager > Find your device i.e. Nexus 5 or Nexus 6 > Right click Update driver > Browse My Computer For Driver Software > Locate and select the Google USB folder that you got after unzipping > select install now”.
Once the installation has been completed, your device will be shown as Android Composite ADB Interface.
Download and install Minimal Android ADB & Fastboot drivers on your computer.

Download Android M Developer Preview image file according to your phone.

Extract the downloaded image file to get the following files:

How To Install Android M Developer Preview Now:

Copy all the .img files from the extracted folder to Minimal ADB & Fastboot Folder in C>Program Files > Minimal ADB & Fastboot folder.
Now connect your Nexus device to your PC. Make sure that you’ve followed all the pre-requisites prior to this step.
Now open Minimal ADB & Fastboot.exe file from the shortcut on your desktop or from the Minimal ADB & Fastboot folder under program files in your Windows drive.
To verify your device’s connection with your PC issue this command:

adb devices
It should show you the list of attached devices followed by a code.
Once you’ve verified the connection, issue the following command and press enter: adb reboot-bootloader
Your Nexus will now reboot into bootloader mode.
Once done, navigate to the folder where you extracted the contents of downloaded zip file.
From the extracted files, run the script “flash-all.bat”.
Follow on-screen instructions and sit back while it flashes Android M Preview 3 on your Nexus.
That’s all. Your Nexus will now boot into the newly installed Android M Developer Preview.

Another set of rumors, anticipations and speculations finally comes to an end. Google finally broke the silence and announced the name of its next Android version. Just last Friday, Google teased a video in which it asked its users about What M is going to be?. The expectations regarding the unveiling of Android M’s name and version number were getting high around this time, and it’s finally here. The announcements comes officially from Google’s blog, Android M’s name has been revealed and M stands for Marshmallow. Google pulled the covers off from its new Google Statue at its HQ. The new statue a big white Marshmallow.

Google continues its love for candies and sweets, so Marshmallow is going to spread sweetness among Android users now putting Lollipop behind. Another big announcement regarding Android M is that, it is going to be the 6th iteration of Android. That means Android Marshmallow is going to be Android 6.0. Just in case you’re considering Android Lollipop 5.1.1 the greatest version of Android, it may be the time to change your mind.

Final Android 6.0 SDK is now available for download. Developers can now download this API in Android studio and make their applications compatible with the latest version of Android. At the moment, the developer preview images of Android M (updated versions) are available for Google Nexus devices. The official release date of Android M is unknown yet, but we expecting Google to push Android M after a month or two. Android M might be coming out of the box along with the next Nexus device.

Galaxy Tab S 10.5 under Sprint’s umbrella comes as SM-T807P. Sprint also updated its Tab S 10.5 to latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop few months back. The new firmware brings new UI and some core enhancements. Google’s changes in the Android Lollipop made it a bit difficult to root. Previous Android versions were much easier to root.

When Android 5.0.2 rolled out for Sprint Galaxy Tab S, at that time there was no method to root this device which caused some a little inconvenience for Android power users. Preparations

Charge your device up to 50%.
Use original data cable to establish a connection between your PC and your phone.
Backup your important data as a safety measure.
Follow this guide to the letter to avoid any mishap.

Required Downloads:

Download and install Samsung USB drivers.
Download and extract Odin 3.10.6.
Download TWRP Recovery.tar file and save it your computer’s desktop.
Download SuperSu.zip file and copy it to your Galaxy Tab S 10.5

Install TWRP & Root Sprint Galaxy Tab S 10.5 T807P On Android Lollipop

Open Odin3 V3.10.6.exe that you extracted on your PC.
Put your Tab S 10.5 in download mode now. To do so, turn it off completely. Now turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Down + Home + Power Key. Once your phone boots up, press the Volume Up key to continue.
Connect your phone to your PC now. The ID:COM box in the top-left corner of Odin3 should turn blue. This indicates that your phone is connected properly.
Now click the “AP” tab in Odin and select the TWRP Recovery.tar file that you downloaded. It will take a second or two for Odin3 to load this file.
If the Auto-reboot option is unticked, tick it. Leave all other options in Odin3 as they are.
Now you’re all set to flash the recovery. Just click the start button in Odin3 and sit back.
Once the process box above ID:COM box shows a green light and flashing process is finished, disconnect your device.
Now turn off your device properly as we are going to boot into recovery mode.
Now turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Up + Home + Power Key. This will boot your device in recovery mode. It should be the TWRP recovery that you just installed.
Now in TWRP recovery, select Install > locate the SuperSu.zip file and flash it.
Once flashed, reboot your device.
Check out the SuperSu in the application drawer. Also, install BusyBox from Play Store.
Verify root access using Root Checker.
That’s all. You’re now set to unleash the open source nature of Android.

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab A is Samsung’s new addition in its tablet line up. Galaxy Tab A is gaining popularity because of its justified price with its specifications. A huge 4200 mAh battery is fixed inside this device. Galaxy Tab A runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop straight out of the box. Tab A sure has a bit low end specification, but the device got a lot of software perks that you’re going to love and you may not find on Galaxy Tab 4 or lower models This time around, Samsung played a bit different.
