Why Should You Disable Knox?

The first and the most important thing to note about Knox is the fact that it is one of the major factors leading to restrictment in Android devices running TouchWiz. Root and Install CWM/TWRP On Xperia Z1 Compact 14.6.A.1.236 Firmware

Xperia Z1 Compact has received a new minor update based on the build number 14.6.A.1.236. Xperia Z1 Compact has already got Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update, and the device has already received stragefright bug fix update as well. Then what’s new in this update? Well, there’s nothing new except a few minor bug fixes and a new build number. The update is hardly packed in 10 MBs. It doesn’t matter what’s the size of this update, flashing it on your Xperia Z1 Compact is going to revert everything back to stock and if you’re on a rooted firmware earlier, flashing this firmware will wipe off the root access. So, if you’re looking to install 14.6.A.1.236 update or you’ve already flashed it, you may be in need of a method to gain root access and also a custom recovery.

As usual, we have compiled up the guide to root and install TWRP or CWM recovery on your Xperia Z1 Compact. Root and Install CWM/TWRP On Xperia Z1 14.6.A.1.236 Firmware

Sony rolled out a minor update for the Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and Z Ultra a few days ago. The update doesn’t bring any major changes but fixes some bugs in the previous firmware, it moves the build number from .216 to 14.6.A.1.236. This update has been made live to all Xperia Z1 users all around the world. The update has made its way to almost all variants of the Xperia Z1. 14.6.A.1.236 firmware for the Xperia Z1 is based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

The update may not be big, but flashing it on your phone is definitely going to revert back everything to stock. If you happen to be an Android user, you will have to sacrifice root access and custom recovery on your Xperia Z1 to install this update or if you’ve already update, probably your device isn’t rooted yet. We have been posting guides to root Xperia Z1 on almost all firmwares till date, as asked by a number of users, now is the time for .236 firmware.

In order to be able to root 14.6.A.1.236 firmware on your Xperia Z1, you will have to flash a pre-rooted .236 firmware.zip file on your phone via a custom recovery. Root and Install CWM/TWRP On Xperia Z Ultra 14.6.A.1.236 Firmware

OEMs keep rolling out updates for their devices in order to make these devices stable and secure. One such OEM, that is much focused on the stability and security of their devices is Sony. Sony rolls out quite many updates for its Xperia lineup, and doesn’t stop rolling out the updates unless it makes sure that the device is not vulnerable to any bugs anymore. Recently Sony updated its Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and Z Ultra to Android 5.0.2 Lolliop. After this, Sony updated the device to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. That was not it, later on Sony rolled out a new update based on the build number 14.6.A.1.216 which fixed the stagefright bug on the devices. Just a few days back, Sony released another update for these devices. The update shifts the build number to 14.6.A.1.236 and is still based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. According to Sony, this update fixes some minor bugs and enhances performance of the devices. The update is packed hardly inside 10 MBs.

Now that this update is out, some of you will get it through OTA or Sony PC Companion, and some of you will choose to flash it through Flashtool. There’s no point in not updating to this latest firmware since having the latest firmware on your device makes sure that you’re using a secure operating system. If you happen to be a user having your phone rooted, and now you’re willing to flash this latest .236 firmware, it will wipe off root access. Also, if you’re planning to root your device after updating your phone to .236 firmware, you may need to keep in mind that no ordinary methods will work in either of these cases. You will have to use a little different method in order to gain root access on your Xperia Z Ultra running 14.6.A.1.236 firmware.

Surprisingly, the Stagefright vulnerability remains unfixed. The update is on the roll and will be hitting all variants of Xperia Z in all regions pretty soon. 1. Now for TWRP recovery, tap Install > scroll all the way to bottom and select the copied pre-rooted firmware.zip file.
2. After selecting the file, swipe finger from left to right on the bottom to flash.
3. Once flashed, reboot your device and you will have pre-rooted 10.7.A.0.228 Lollipop firmware.
  1. For CWM, select Install Zip > Choose Zip from SD card > locate pre-rooted firmware.zip file > select yes to flash.
  2. Once flashed, reboot your phone and you will have 10.7.A.0.228 rooted Lollipop firmware.
Now verify root access using an app like Root Checker.

Install CWM/TWRP Recovery and Root Xperia ZR 10.7.A.0.228 Firmware

Sony has updated Xperia ZR to 10.7.A.0.228 firmware. The update is based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It comes with some minor bug fixes and of-course, a new build number is there. The update is on a slow rollout at the moment, should be hitting your device anytime soon. You may want to root your phone after updating it to this latest .228 firmware. In that case, our guide in the on-going post is going to help you out.

As you go ahead, you’re going to find out a complete set of instructions to install CWM or TWRP recovery and root Xperia ZR running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop 10.7.A.0.228 firmware. Let’s go ahead and get it done now.

Note: This guide will work for both locked and unlocked bootloaders.

How To Install CWM/TWRP Recovery and Root Xperia ZR 10.7.A.0.228 Firmware

1. Downgrade to .283 Firmware and Root It

Note: If you already have a custom recovery installed on your phone, you may skip downgrading and flash the pre-rooted .228 firmware directly on your phone.

If you have already updated your smartphone to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, then you have to downgrade your device to KitKat OS and Root it.
Use this guide to Install .283 firmware.
Root using this guide.
Now you have to Install XZ Dual Recovery (Steps below).
Now phone is rooted, USB Debugging must be enabled.
Download latest installer for Xperia ZR from here. (Z-lockeddualrecovery2.8.xx-RELEASE.installer.zip)
Connect phone to PC using OEM date cable and run install.bat.
It will install the custom recovery.
Now work here is done. Lets move on to next step.

2. Make A Pre-Rooted Flashable Firmware For 10.7.A.0.228 FTF

Download C5503 latest 10.7.A.0.228 FTF. | C5502 latest 10.7.A.0.228 [Create your own FTF]
Now create a Pre-Rooted flashable firmware using this guide: How To Create Sony Xperia Pre-Rooted Firmware With PRF Creator.
Now copy the pre-rooted firmware.zip file to the internal or external storage of your Xperia ZR.

3. Root and Install Recovery on ZR C5503, C5502 5.1.1 10.7.A.0.228 Lollipop Firmware

Custom recovery was installed in the first step.
The pre-rooted firmware was created and copied to phone in next step.
Now you have to turn off phone.
Turn it on again and press volume up or down to enter either TWRP or CWM recovery.
