LG sells 20,000 units of LG G6 on launch day in South Korea

LG is off to a great start with their new flagship, LG G6 if the launch day sales number are something to go by. LG launched G6 in South Korea on March 10th and sold approximately 20,000 units. Even the pre-order numbers were good where 40,000 units got booked in the first four days.

LG G6 is doing better than its predecessor, LG G5 which sold only 15,000 units on the first day. Along with that LG G5 did not do very well as the modular design concept was not popular among consumers and LG decided to ditch that this time around. The launch of the LG G6 coincided with the presidential impeachment trail going on in South Korea, so that got overshadowed the smartphone’s launch.

LG this time around has pushed to get their flagship earlier in the market and take advantage of Samsung;s absence. Samsung will be launching its flagship Galaxy S8 on April 28th and that gives LG more that six weeks to enjoy the space and push sales in their favor.

LG G6 has introduced a streamlined sold device this year with unique features. The smartphone has a 5.7 inch and is equipped with Snapdragon 821 SoC. This is also one of the reasons that LG G6 launched in the market early as the chipset was so easily available unlike the Snapdragon 835 which has a low yield. The smartphone comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a non-removable battery which gives it an IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. LG G6 also comes with the Google Assistant on board and runs Android 7.0 Nougat. LG G will be making its way to Israel on 22 March and Australia on March 28.
