The Nexus 5 was released in October 2013. The phone came out with a screen of 4.95-inches having 1080p resolution. Nexus 5 was powered by Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU. It had internal storage of 16 or 32GB and a RAM of 2GB only. The camera at the back of this phone was of 8 MP and on the front, it was of the only 1.3MP. Inside this phone, there was a 2300 mAh battery. The phone originally ran on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It was upgradable to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). Google will not update the Nexus 5 to Android Pie. The journey of Nexus 5 updates has ended on the Android Oreo.

Update LG Nexus 5 D820 (hammerhead) to Android 9.0:
Before we proceed to the installation process, you need to complete the following requirements.
Preparations To Update LG Nexus 5 D820 (hammerhead) to Android 9.0:
- This ROM is only for the Nexus 5. Do not try it on any other phone.
- This is a custom ROM. If you don’t know how to handle a custom ROM, either follow the instructions very carefully or avoid installing it.
- Backup all of your important data including contacts, call logs, media content and everything else.
- The bootloader of your Nexus 5 must be unlocked.
- The Nexus 5 must have a TWRP recovery installed on it.
- Follow the instructions carefully now.

- Google Gapps for Android Pie.
Important Message:
Install Nexus 5 Android 9.0 Pie AOSP 9 ROM:
- Make sure that your phone’s bootloader is unlocked and it must have a TWRP recovery installed on it.
- Download the aosp_hammerhead-nougat-20160916.zip and copy it to your phone’s internal or external storage.
- Boot into TWRP recovery on your Nexus 5. To do so, first turn off your phone and then turn it on by pressing and holding Power + Volume Down > navigate to recovery mode and then boot into it.
- In TWRP recovery, tap Wipe > perform a factory data reset prior to the flashing of ROM.
- Now in TWRP recovery tap Install > Locate the ROM.zip file from where you placed > select the file > Swipe to confirm flash > flash it.
- Once the ROM flashes, get back to the TWRP recovery main menu and tap > Wipe > Advanced Wipe > select cache and dalvik cache > wipe both these.
- Now in TWRP home-screen tap Reboot > System.
- Your Nexus 5 will now boot up into newly installed AOSP Android 7.0 Nougat and that’s all.
