Well AI voice assistants are the buzz word at the moment with different companies jumping the bandwagon. This thing can be proved by the prevalence of Amazon Alexa at the CES with different smart-home products. One of Google Pixel‘s selling point has been Google Assistant. According to new reports Huawei is working on developing its own voice based AI assistant.
Huawei right now has more than 100 engineers working on developing the AI assistant. Last month the company said they they will include Amazon’s Alexa on the Huawei Mate 9 smartphones in the USA. The new development indicates that Huawei instead of integrating AI assistant’s from other companies will be working on creating their signature voice based AI assistant.
This is a smart move, given that in China alot of integrated applications that are a part of the Android OS are blocked by the government. So, something that is locally produced keeping in view the guidelines given by the regulatory authorities. This will also end up giving Huawei an edge from other local manufacturers with increasing competition.
Huawei is the latest company to work on developing their own voice based digital assistant. Samsung has been working on Bixby, which will make a debut with Samsung Galaxy S8 and last month Nokia also filed a trademark for their own AI named Viki. This development indicates what tech trends we can look into in the future, Augmented Reality seems to be the next logical choice after smart AI digital assistants.
