Amidst the exciting news coming from Mobile World Congress taking place in Barcelona, the update related to OnePlus 5 comes as breath of fresh air. There is no doubt that OnePlus smartphones have impeccable design, top notch specs and the best of all come with an affordable price tag. To date, OnePlus has not compromised on their core values of ‘Never Settle’ and now we are looking forward to their next powerhouse, OnePlus 5.
You would be thinking, that where did OnePlus 4 go as models released in 2016 were named OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. In China ‘4’ is considered and unlucky number and is associated with ‘death’. Samsung with Galaxy S8’s model numbers also skipped the ‘4’ number as that number is unlucky in South Korea too. Well, in the coming weeks the mystery surrounding the name will be unraveled.
According to the new report OnePlus 5 will have dual edged curved display, similar to what Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has. Under the hood, the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 which has been produced using the 10nm process. This fabrication process makes the processing faster and makes it more energy efficient. As OnePlus, already used the Snapdragon 821 in OnePlus 3T, they will not use the same chipset again. In addition Samsung already has gotten first dibs on the earlier supply of the chipset, so OnePlus will be getting this in the later half of the year.
In terms of storage, we can expect OnePlus 5 to have a 6GB RAM or even an 8GB RAM. As it was OnePlus 3 which was the first smartphone to have a 6GB RAM storage on board, so we can expect the company to push for the best specs. The usual 64GB internal storage will be there with another 256GB storage variant. What would make OnePlus 5 perfect? A microSD card option. A 23 MP rear camera is expected to sport the device which will provide amazing performance and images , along with a 16MP front facing camera.
OnePlus 5 will be powered by a 4,000mAh battery and will run the latest flavor of Oxygen OS based on Android’s latest OS. As OnePlus released OnPlus 3T a few months back, we can expect OnePlus 5 to arrive somewhere in the 3Q. We are looking forward to what else will OnePlus 5 have , stay tuned to get updated on all the juicer details.
