How To Solve Status 7 Error While Installing a Custom ROM

Android is the Greatest Ecosystem for Mobile Devices, while there are so many WOWs in this System so are many dangers for your Mobile of course. The Error I am talking about is Status 7, it occurs if you are using CWM recovery for the installation of Custom ROM. The installation will be aborted and all you can do is to try another ROM if you like or follow this guide to learn how to Remove it.

How To Solve Status 7 Error

First Thing First, Update your current recovery using ROM Manager, in most cases updating the recovery solves such problem. But even after updating the recovery if you can’t able to solve it, follow the Second method.

First extract your ROM (for example using 7-zip)
Go to the folder META_INF > COM > GOOGLE > ANDROID
Here you will find a file “updater-script”

Rename this file as updater-script.doc use notepad++ (preferably)
Double click to open it.

Delete text, starting from “assert ……. till the semicolon of the last getprop command.

Now save the file
Again rename the file, and delete the .doc extension
Now go back to the main rom folder where you extracted the 3 files. zip these files again. and you will get a zipped rom

Install the Newly Zipped file and everything will be fine.

Recently we posted the guide to install CWM recovery on Xperia SP running latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean 12.1.A.0.266 firmware but missed the guide to root it. Those of you looking for a guide to root Xperia SP can get it done using the following detailed guide.

Before we head towards the rooting process, I assume that many of you are the first timers and need to know what is root access and why you should root your device. To make it clear, here’s a brief introduction of root.

Rooting your phone gives you complete access over all the data which is apparently locked by the manufacturers. This includes removal of the factory restrictions and making changes to the internal system and the operating system. How to Root Xperia SP Running Latest Android 4.3 12.1.A.0.266 Firmware:

You need to install CWM recovery first. Follow our full guide here to install it on your device.
Download Supersu.zip file now.
Place the downloaded Supersu.zip file on your phone’s sd card.
Now boot into CWM recovery on your phone. To do so, turn off your device first. Now turn it on, as soon as you see the Pink LED, press the Volume Up Key rapidly.
You should see the CWM recovery interface shortly.

Xperia SP’s current firmware is Android 4.3 Jelly Bean based on the build number 12.1.A.0.266. The newest firmware needs a new method to obtain a CWM recovery as well, the old methods may not work with this firmware. How to Install CWM 6 Recovery on Xperia SP Running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean 12.1.A.0.266 Firmware:

1. Download ~~Doomlord’s Advanced Stock Kernel with CWM Recovery~~
2. Place the downloaded Kernel.elf file in the Minimal ADB & Fastboot folder that you created using our ADB & Fastboot Quick Setup Guide.
3. If you are using Android ADB & Fastboot full package, you can place the downloaded Kernel.elf file in the Fastboot folder or in the Platform-tools folder.
4. Open the folder where you placed the Boot.img or Kernel.elf file. E.g Minimal ADB & Fastboot or Fastboot or Platform Tools.
5. Press and hold the shift key and right click on an empty area within the folder, and click on “Open Command Window Here”.
6. Turn off your Xperia SP completely.
7. Now press the Volume Up Key and while keeping it pressed plug in the USB cable.
8. You should see a blue light in the notification light of your phone, that means your device is now connected in Fastboot mode.
9. Now type the following command: fastboot flash boot Kernelname.elf
10. Hit Enter and it will quickly flash CWM 6 recovery on your Xperia SP.
11. Once recovery is flashed, now issue this command “Fastboot Reboot” or unplug your device and reboot it.
12. Your device will reboot now, as soon as you see the Sony logo, and the pink LED, press Volume Up key to enter recovery.

Update Sony Xperia SP C5303/C5302 to Official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean 12.1.A.0.266 Firmware [How To – Guide]

Sony has recently updated a number of it’s devices to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Xperia SP is one of them as well. Xperia SP came out back in May, 2013. Sporting a nice 4.6 inches display with 319 ppi, Xperia SP powered up with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Dual Core CPU clocked at 1.7 GHz accompanied by Adreno 320 GPU and a RAM of 1 GB is also placed in there while Sony fixed an 8 mp shooter at the back and a VGA cam on the front. Xperia SP ran on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean initially and Sony had announced the planned upgrades to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Android 4.4 KitKat.

Earlier this month, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates for Xperia SP started rolling out based on the build number 12.1.A.0.266. The new update packs up a lot of bug fixes, performance enhancements, some minor UI changes here and there and new camera features. Sony has also improved the battery in the new updates for all of it’s Xperia line up. While these updates are region specific and reach out to the poeple via OTA or via Sony PC companion, not all the regions are lucky enough to receive this update quickly. So, if you’re one of those waiting for this update to hit their region and tasting the latest and greatest version of Android for Xperia SP, you may have to do it manually using the method we’re going to have a look on in a few minutes. Let’s go through some important installation instructions first.

Pre-requisites and installation instructions:

This guide is only for Sony Xperia SP C5303 and C5302. Please check your device model first in Settings > About Device > Model.
You must have installed Sony Flashtool – Get the full guide here. Also Install drivers using Flashtool > Drivers > Flashtool-drivers > Flashmode, Xperia SP, Fastboot, select all these and install.
Your phone’s battery must be charged at least over 60%. This is highly recommended in order to prevent any power issues during the process.
Flashing this firmware will wipe all your apps, apps data, system data, contacts, call logs & messages. It will not wipe the internal storage (media) data. Proceed after you’ve backed up, in the next step the guides are linked in.
Make sure that you backup your media content,contacts, call logs and text messages. This is important and recommended so that in case you decide to wipe your phone during the flashing process, you can get all of your data back using the backup.
Enable USB debugging mode on your device. To do so, tap settings>developer options>USB debugging. If you can’t find developer options in settings, then tap settings > about device and tap “Build Number” for 7 times and you’ll get em’ activated under settings.
To flash this firmware, you do not need to root your device, you do not need to unlock the bootloader. All you need is, your device must be the one mentioned and must be running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean or 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
Download the firmware file properly.
Use the OEM data cable to connect your phone to your PC. Using any other data cable might cause connection problems.
You need enough confidence to perform this custom method.
Alright! Follow this guide to the letter in order to prevent any mishap.

How to Install Android 4.3 12.1.A.0.266 Official Firmware on Xperia SP:

Download Stock Android 4.3 Jelly Bean 12.1.A.0.266 Firmware for Xperia SP: C5303 – Link2 | C5302
Copy the file and paste in Flashtool>Firmwares folder.
Open Flashtool.exe now.
Hit the small lightening button on the top left corner and select Flashmode.
Select the FTF firmware file that you placed in the Firmware folder.
From the right side, select what do you want to wipe. Data, cache and apps log, all wipes are recommended, perhaps you may select if you don’t want.
Click on OK, and it will start preparing the firmware for flashing. This may take a little while to load.
As soon as the firmware is loaded, it will prompt you to attach the phone by turning it off and keeping the back key press.
For Xperia SP, Volume Down key will do the job of back key, just turn off your phone, keep the Volume Down key pressed and plug in the data cable.
As soon as the phone is detected in Flashmode, the firmware will start flashing, Do not leave the Volume Down key until the process is complete.
As soon as you see “Flashing ended or Finished Flashing” leave the Volume Down key, plug the cable out and reboot.

Backup your current system using a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP) if you’ve flashed one. This is recommended in case something goes wrong with CWM installation, you can use the custom recovery and return to the old working state of your system.
Enable USB debugging mode on your device. Get it in Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging mode.
Use only OEM data cable to establish connection between your PC and Phone.
Alright! Follow this guide to the letter now.

How to Root & Install CWM Recovery on Xperia SOLA:

Download The BrainsKernel with CWM Recovery & Root
Extract the downloaded .zip folder on your PC, you will get a Boot.img file.
Place the extracted Kernel.elf file in the Minimal ADB & Fastboot folder that you created using our ADB & Fastboot Quick Setup Guide.
If you are using Android ADB & Fastboot full package, you can place the downloaded Kernel.elf file in the Fastboot folder or in the Platform-tools folder.
Open the folder where you placed the Boot.img or Kernel.elf file. E.g Minimal ADB & Fastboot or Fastboot or Platform Tools.
Press and hold the shift key and right click on an empty area within the folder, and click on “Open Command Window Here”.
Turn off your Xperia Sola completely.
Now press the Volume Up Key and while keeping it pressed plug in the USB cable.
You should see a blue light in the notification light of your phone, that means your device is now connected in Fastboot mode.
Now type the following command: fastboot flash boot Kernel.elf
Hit Enter and it will quickly flash CWM 5 recovery in your Xperia Sola.
Once recovery is flashed, now issue this command “Fastboot Reboot” or unplug your device and reboot it.
Your device will reboot now, as soon as you see the Sony logo, and the pink LED, press Volume Up key to enter recovery.
Congrats! You should now see the custom recovery.
Once you’re in recovery, clear Cache and Dalvik Cache and reboot.
+ Your device is rooted as well. Find SuperSu in app drawer.

Install VIRGINITY V9 Custom ROM on Galaxy S3 Mini

Galaxy S3 Mini is still running on the Android version that it brought up out of the box, Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. The device is in que to receive any further Android updates, but the best you can do for now is to have some nice stock based custom ROM or a complete custom ROM to enhance the functionality of your Mini S3. We’ve found something similar today, it’s a stock based custom ROM named as VIRGINITY and is currently it’s V9 is available. Thanks to XDA senior member joelalmeidaptg for developing this great ROM and giving an enhanced life to the Galaxy S3 Mini.

As we move forward, we’ll go through the ROM features, installation pre-requisites and installation instructions. What you should keep in mind is this is a stock based custom ROM as said above, and is based on the i8190XXANA2 stock firmware. The ROM packs up smoothness, is responsive, battery life is amazing and also packs up some nice apps ported from S4. Installation is AROMA installer supported and is fully customizable. Although it is a proper, stable and smooth custom ROM but we still recommend that you should only flash this ROM if you’re familiar with custom ROMs and you actually know that what are you going to do. Here are some important pre-requisites and installation instructions:

This ROM works for all the variants of the Galaxy S3 Mini i8190 or i8190L. Do not try this on any other device. Check your device’s model under settings > About device > Model.
Your device must be charged over at least 60%. This is highly recommended in order to prevent any mishap during the installation process.
It is highly recommended that you make a nandroid backup of your device using a custom recovery. This is handy in case something goes wrong and you want to get your older system back immediately.
Use the OEM data cable to establish connection between your PC and Phone.
Backup each and everything on your Android phone as you may have to go through data wipes during installation process. Here are the backup procedures.

How to Install VIRGINITY V9 Custom ROM on Galaxy S III Mini:

Download VIRGINITY V9 Custom ROM.zip file and place it on your phone’s sd card.
Boot into CWM recovery. To do so turn off your device completely, now turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Up + Home Button + Power Key.
Once in CWM, wipe factory data reset. This will wipe your device for ROM installation.
Now in CWM recovery, select “Install Zip>Choose Zip form SD / ext SD card>Select the VIRGINITY V9” and then select Yes to proceed.
This will start Aroma Installer now.
The installer is self explanatory, proceed with the ROM installation.
Make the selections you want.
Finish the installation.
Reboot!
Phewww! You’re done installing VIRGINITY V9 ROM on your phone.

Ok, so while I was on XDA Developer, i came Across a very interesting topic, How to use Google Apps on Nokia X, since Google Play Store is not available in Nokia X instead Nokia Store is there for you to install Apps from there. We all know that Nokia has recently shifted to Android means we can use Android Apps on Nokia X, but the only problem is that no Google Play Store is yet there and installing only Apk of it won’t gonna work. You need to do a little extra for this.

You need to change the permissions according to the instructions given, but you also needed a rooted device in this matter and there is no rooting method of Nokia X is available till now. According to XDA Member Kashamalaga, he tried to root his Nokia X using Framaroot and it worked and then he installed Google Apps on it and it worked too. So, today we are sharing how to install Google Apps on your Nokia X after Rooting it.
