Galaxy S5 has got a great UI. Samsung finally got rid of it’s old UI and brought the users something catchy and attractive. Since this UI is exclusive to the GS5 and newer devices, it has actually left the existing Galaxy users in a disappointment as they cannot taste it. But there isn’t a need to worry about it when we have the great developers over the XDA community, and there’s a good news for the Galaxy S3 Mini as they can now feel the essence of Galaxy S5 on their Mini S3 having its UI.

Samsung’s very first mini device, which also helped Samsung to be the first one to introduced the concept of Mini variants of flagship device, the Galaxy S3 Mini is widely used all around the world today. The device packs up some low end specifications that are capable of performing all of your everyday tasks without any hiccups here and there. On the front, this device has got a very nice 4.0 inches super AMOLED display with 233 ppi. Under the hood, there’s a 1 GHz dual core CPU provided by Mali 400 GPU. A RAM of 1 GB is placed inside whereas the internal storage of this device is 8 GB, that can be extended using an external microSD card as well. S3 Mini sports a 5 MP cam at the back while the front cam is VGA.

The latest version of Virginity ROM comes with the Galaxy S5 UI, that just adds charm to your Galaxy S3 Mini and makes this device fly high. Galaxy S5’s UI is awesome and there is no doubt in that. Now that joelalmeidaptg has added this UI to his Virginity ROM for S3 Mini, S3 Mini users can actually taste the Galaxy S5 on their little cool device. Besides the Galaxy S5 UI, this ROM is also loaded with a number of cool features that you may have a look on in the original thread. Before you start looking out for a method to install this cool ROM, we’ve already compiled up a comprehensive guide in the succeeding post. Let’s go through the early preparations and flash it now.

Early Preparations:

This is only for Galaxy S3 Mini I8190, I8190L and I8190N!

This custom ROM is only for the device mentioned above. Make sure that your model number matches the one listed above. To do so, go to Settings > About Device on your device and see your model number. Flashing this ROM on any other device will result in bricking it so make sure that you meet this requirement first of all.

Battery should be charged at least over 60%.

Make sure that your battery is charged enough to complete the flashing process. In case your battery is low and your device goes dead during the flashing process, you may end up soft bricking your device as it won’t complete the flashing process.

Flash a Custom Recovery.

A custom recovery, whether a TWRP or CWM is required to flash this ROM. You may find TWRP for the Galaxy S3 Mini on our site and flash it using the instructions explained in the guide.

4. Backup everything!

Just to be on the safe side, you may consider backing up each and everything from your Android device. This is highly recommended so that in case anything goes wrong, you still have the access to all of your data and you can restore it immediately. You may backup everything as listed below.

How To Transform Your Galaxy S3 Mini Into Galaxy S5 Using Virginity ROM:

Make sure that you’ve installed a custom recovery. There’s TWRP linked above.
Download VirignityROM V13.zip file.
Copy the .zip files to your phone’s SD card.
Boot into TWRP recovery mode on your phone now. To do so, turn if off completely first. Now turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Up + Home + Power Key. As soon as you see the screen turning on, leave the buttons and you should boot into the recovery mode.
Once in recovery, perform and factory data reset and also wipe cache.
Now select “Install Zip > Choose Zip from SDcard > locate the VirignityROM v13.zip file > Yes” and flash it.
Once flashed the ROM, wipe cache and dalvik cache from the TWRP recovery and reboot your device.
As soon as your device boots up, you will see the Virginity ROM.
First boot may take up to 10 minutes, hold on tight till it boots up completely.
That’s all. Enjoy KitKat on your device now.

Another reason for HTC to stop it’s update might be the hardware compatibility with the higher version of Android, but the device users may not worry about this drawback of their device because custom firmwares can always give the forgotten devices a new life.

While Google is heading towards Android L, and most of the high end and mainstream devices are running on Android 4.4.4 or Android 4.4.2 KitKat, HTC Sensation users probably are a bit disappointed. To wipe of this disappointment, XDA senior member Shantur has come up with Android 4.4.4 KitKat based on CarbonROM, which happens to be one of the most popular custom ROMs of the day.

Install Android 4.4.2 KitKat On HTC Sensation Using CM 11 Custom ROM

HTC Sensation came out in the year 2011. The device sported some great specifications of that time, these included a 4.3 inches S-LCD display with 256 ppi. A RAM of 1 GB is there and 8 GB internal storage provided by a microSD card slot. HTC used Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 1.2 GHz dual core CPU to power up this device accompanied by Adreno 220 GPU. The device initially ran on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread and received an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Smartphone manufacturers do not keep their old devices alive for a very long time when it comes to the software updates, so is what HTC did with the HTC Sensation and it didn’t receive any further Android update after ICS.

Although this device is pretty much old now, but due it’s nice mid-range specifications, many of the Android users own this device. XDA developers always come up with something nice, specially when it comes to the devices which are forgotten by the manufacturers. To cheer up the HTC Sensation owners, XDA recognized contributor albinoman887 has come up with Android 4.4.2 KitKat for our beloved HTC Sensation. Install Android 4.4.4 KitKat On Motorola Droid X With CM 11 Custom ROM

Android has progressed more than a lot and right now we all are keeping our eyes on Google’s next Android version that it has already shown off, named as Android L. The upcoming devices will definitely run on Android L and some manufacturers will also update their current flagship devices and some other mainstream devices to this latest and greatest version of Android as it comes out. But there’s a number of unlucky devices, that have been forgotten by the device manufacturers and still run on the older versions of Android like Android 2.2 Froyo, 2.3 Gingerbread, 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and some device never got an Android update higher than the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. This is pretty much frustrating and might bug you when you find others around you running the latest version of Android and your device manufacturer has sticked your device to and older one.

Motorola Droid X is also one of those unlucky devices, and it’s software’s life ended on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Although this is an old device and sports the old age specifications, but it definitely was a great choice to go with in the year 2010 and there are great chances that a number of people still owns this device. For the Motorola Droid X owners, the great developers over the XDA forums have made a custom firmware based on the Android 4.4.4 KitKat using CyanogenMod 11, the most popular Andorid custom ROM.

Just in case you’re wondering how you can get this firmware running on your Android device, you don’t need to worry about it as you have spotted the right place. We are going to install this Android 4.4.4 KitKat with CyanogenMod 11 custom ROM on our beloved Motorola Droid X in the following post. Before you move forward, you need to keep in mind that this is a custom ROM and this might contain some bugs and we cannot guarantee its proper working and functionality, so you have to make sure that you’re installing it at your own risk.

Early Preparations:

This is only for Motorola Droid X!

This custom ROM is only for the device mentioned above. Make sure that your model number matches the one listed above. To do so, go to Settings > About Device on your device and see your model number. Flashing this ROM on any other device will result in bricking it so make sure that you meet this requirement first of all.

Battery should be charged at least over 60%.

Make sure that your battery is charged enough to complete the flashing process. In case your battery is low and your device goes dead during the flashing process, you may end up soft bricking your device as it won’t complete the flashing process.

Flash a Custom Recovery.

A custom recovery, whether a TWRP or CWM is required to flash this ROM. You may find Bootstrap CWM for Motorola Droid X on our site and flash it using the instructions explained in the guide.

4. Backup everything!

Just to be on the safe side, you may consider backing up each and everything from your Android device. This is highly recommended so that in case anything goes wrong, you still have the access to all of your data and you can restore it immediately. You may backup everything as listed below.

Backup SMS Messages
Backup Call Logs
Backup Contacts
Backup Media – Copy your files manually to your PC or Laptop.
Titanium Backup – If already rooted, use Titanium Backup to backup all of your apps, system data and other important content.
Backup Nandroid – If CWM or TWRP installed previously, otherwise skip this step and perform this at the end of flashing.

How To Install Android 4.4.4 KitKat On Motorola Droid X With CM 11 Custom ROM

Download the Android 4.4.4 KitKat ROM.zip file: twrp_2.7_cm11_dx.zip
Download the Google Gapps.zip file for Android 4.4.4 KitKat: pa_gapps-modular-mini-4.4.4-20140708-signed.zip
Copy both the downloaded .zip files to your Motorola Droid X’s internal or external storage.
Now install the Droid X Bootstrapper applicatoin that you installed to flash custom recovery and reboot your Droid X in CWM recovery mode.
Once in recovery, wipe cache, dalvik cache and data.
Now within the recovery, select “Install Zip > Choose Zip from SDcard > Locate the twrp_2.7_cm11_dx.zip file” and flash it.
Once flashing the ROM is done, once again select “Install Zip > Choose Zip from SDcard > Locate the Gapps.zip file” and flash it.
Once flashed, wipe cache and dalvik cache again from the recovery.
Reboot your Motorola Droid X now.
You will see the CM logo as soon as it boots up. That’s all, enjoy

Droid X is Motorola’s 2010 smartphone. The device sported a 4.3 inches display provided by 228 ppi. A 512 MB RAM was there and 6.25 GB internal storage. Motorola powered this device up with 1 GHz Cortex-A8 CPU. The device has an 8MP camera at the back while there is no secondary cam. These specifications may seem a bit disappointing once you come across the low end and mid-range smartphones of today, but these were definitely a good choice to go with at that time, 4 years ago.

The Droid X might still be owned by a number of people, one of the biggest flaws this device is going through at the moment is, it has been forgotten by Motorola and it still is running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and unfortunately, that’s maximum for this device. But there isn’t really a need to worry about anything when we have some great people working over the XDA devlopers community and every minute they keep coming up something new that adds a bit more to lives of such devices. You can definitely install a higher version of Android on your device, although that will be unofficial, but you will be tasting an OS of the present time on a device that’s nearing it’s death.

But, to flash a custom ROM, load any mods or do any such custom things, you will need a custom recovery and root access on your Motorola Droid X and that’s what we are going to do. In the succeeding post we are going to install Bootstrap CWM [ClockworkMod] recovery and root thee Motorola Droid X. Just in case you don’t know about the Bootstrap CWM Recovery, it this recovery is kinda new to the Android world and the purpose of this recovery is to keep the bootloader of your device safe and sound. In short, it creates different ROM partitions and doesn’t touch the bootloader of your Android device that means you won’t have to unlock it. All you need to do now is, you need to follow this guide carefully.

Before you root:

This guide is only for Motorla Droid X. Do not try this on any other device.

Make sure that your device’ battery is charged at least over 60%.

Now Here’s Root How To Motorola Droid X And Install Bootstrap CWM Recovery On It:

Download Framaroot APK and install it.
Root your device using Framaroot APK.
Once done, download Droid2RecoveryBootstrap_CWM5.0.2.0.apk.
Copy the downloaded APK file to your PC.
Locate the APK on your phone and tap to install it.
Allow Unknown Sources if required, proceed with the installation and complete it.
Once done, open the Recovery app from the app drawer.
Follow the on-screen instructions and install Bootstrap CWM recovery on your Motorola Droid X.

To do so, go to Google Play Store on your Droid X.
Find “Root Checker” and install it.
