Install CyangenMod 12.1 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on Galaxy E5 E500H

CyanogenMod 12.1 based Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is now available for Galaxy E5 E500H. You can follow the method listed in the succeeding guide to install CyanogenMod 12.1 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on your Galaxy E5 E500H. Before we head towards the CyanogenMod custom ROM installation guide, we will have a flashback at the Galaxy E5 and also learn a few reasons to install this CM 12.1 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on your Galaxy E5.

Galaxy E5, Samsung’s mid-ranger first popped up in February, 2015. Galaxy E5 carries a 5-inch 720P display. Samsung used A Quad Core CPU clocked at 1.2 GHz to power this phone up. The new CyanogenMod 12.1 will not only give you the clean stock Android experience, but it will also help you to get rid of the bloatware. The ROM doesn’t contain any extra applications that you would hate having on your phone. You can choose the apps to install and make your phone work super-fast. The ROM is found to be working pretty fine, it doesn’t contain any major bugs. Current version is quite stable and can be kept as a daily driver. The instructions listed below will make it a lot easier for you to flash this ROM on your Galaxy E5, but we still do not recommend you to go ahead if you’re a newbie and you do not have an idea how these custom ROM works. We only recommend you to flash this custom ROM if you’re confident enough to handle the device in-case of a mishap. Let’s head towards the pre-installation instructions and then flash Custom Android 5.1.1 Lollipop CyanogenMod 12.1 ROM on your Galaxy E5 E500H.

Pre-installation instructions

This ROM has been found working fine on Galaxy E5 500H. Do not use this rom on any other Android device as using an invalid file may result in bricking it.
Charge your phone up to 50% to avoid power issues during flashing process.
Flash TWRP Recovery on your Galaxy E5 E500H using the instructions below..
Backup your important contacts, call logs, sms messages and media content before proceeding.
Don’t forget to create a Nandroid backup and also backup its EFS partition after you’ve flashed the TWRP recovery.
Follow this guide carefully to avoid any mishaps and get the process done successfully.

Install TWRP Recovery on your Galaxy E5 E500H / M

Required downloads

Download and install Samsung USB drivers on your computer.
Download and extract Odin3 v3.10.6
Download twrp recovery.tar.md5 file
Make sure that you’ve installed and downloaded the stuff linked above.

Open Odin3 V3.10.6.exe that you extracted on your PC.
If there’s OEM Unlock option in your phone, then enable it first. Enable OEM Unlock on your phone. To do so on your phone, go to settings > about device > tap the build number for 7 times to enable developer options. Get back to the settings and open developer options. Under developer options turn on “OEM unlock.“
Put your Galaxy E5 in download mode now. To do so, turn it off completely. Now turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Down + Home + Power Key. Once your phone boots up, press the Volume Up key to continue.
Connect your phone to your PC now. The ID:COM box in the top-left corner of Odin3 should turn blue. This indicates that your phone is connected properly.
Now click the “AP” tab in Odin and select the twrp recovery.tar.md5 file that you downloaded. It will take a second or two for Odin3 to load this file.
Make sure that your Odin3 looks like this. The only option ticked should be F. Reset Time.
Now you’re all set to flash the recovery. Just click the start button in Odin3 and sit back.
Once the process box above ID:COM box shows green light and flashing process is finished, disconnect your device.
Now turn off your device properly as we are going to boot into recovery mode. You can turn it off by keeping the power key pressed for a while.
Now turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Up + Home + Power Key. This will boot your device in recovery mode. It should be TWRP recovery that you just installed.
Once done, reboot your device into system using the reboot option in TWRP recovery.

Install CyangenMod 12.1 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on Galaxy E5 E500H

Download CyanogenMod 13.zip file according to your device
1. cm-12.1-20151203-UNOFFICIAL-e53g.zip
Download Gapps.zip file for Android 5.1.1 Lollipop according to your device.
Connect your phone to your PC now.
Copy all .zip files to the storage of your phone.
Now disconnect your phone and turn it off complete.
Boot into TWRP recovery now, in order to do so, turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Up + Home Button + Power Key. You should see the recovery mode in a while.
Now in TWRP recovery, wipe cache, factory data reset and advanced options > dalvik cache.
After wiping all these three, select “Install” option.
Now select “Install > Choose Zip from SD card > Select cm-12.1…….zip file > Yes”.
This will flash the ROM in your phone, once done get back to the main menu in recovery.
Now once again select “Install > Choose Zip from SD card > Select Gapps.zip file > Yes”
This will flash the Gapps in your phone.
Reboot your device.
You should see the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop CyanogenMod 12.1 running on your device in a while.
That’s all!

First boot may take up to 10 minutes, you may not worry if it’s taking that much long. In case it’s taking too long, you may boot into TWRP recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache and reboot your device as it may fix the issue. In case your device is having issues, you may return to your old system using the Nandroid backup or follow our guide here to install stock firmware.

Unlock Bootloader, Install TWRP Recovery and Root OnePlus X

An unofficial build of TWRP recovery is now available for the all new OnePlus X. You can flash this TWRP recovery on your OnePlus X. First of all you will need to unlock the bootloader of your OnePlus X. Instructions to unlock OnePlus X booltoader are attached below, after unlocking the bootloader you can flash TWRP recovery. Once you’ve flashed the TWRP recovery on your OnePlus X, you can flash SuperSu afterwards and easily gain root access on your device. Custom recovery will allow you load all the custom stuff on your phone as well. Before we learn about the proper use of custom recovery and root access, we will go through a brief over-view of OnePlus X and then head towards the method as well.

Exactly a month ago, OnePlus launched a younger brother of its all time famous the original OnePlus named as OnePlus X. This new phone by OnePlus sported a 5.0-inch 1080p display carrying a ppi of 441. The device runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 CPU clocked at 2.3 GHz accompanied by Adreno 330 GPU and a RAM of 3 GB. OnePlus X has an internal storage of 16 GB and also supports a microSD up to 128 GB. One the camera end, we have got a 13 MP shooter at the back and 8 MP shooter on the front. As far as the root access is concerned, it allows you run root-specific applications on your device. You can install applications like Titanium Backup, Greenify, System Tuner etc to enhance the performance and battery life of your Android smartphone. Both these custom recovery and root terms have a lot of advantages, and have some downsides too, but since the advantages are greater, the downsides shouldn’t bother you. Let’s move ahead now and learn to install TWRP recovery and root your OnePlus X.

Precautions & Prep

This guide is intended for OnePlus X only. Do not try this method on any other device otherwise you may result in bricking it.
Make sure that your phone’s battery is charged up to 80% in order to avoid any power issues during the flashing process.
Backup all of your important contacts, call logs, sms messages and media content to stay on a safe end.
Enable USB debugging mode on your OnePlux X in developer options. To do so, go to settings > about device > tap build number for 7 times. You will have developer options in settings now. Open developer options > Enable USB debugging. If you have the “OEM Unlocking” option, enable it as well.
Use your original data cable to establish connection between your phone and your PC.
Follow this guide to the letter to avoid any mishap.

Required downloads & installations

Download and install OnePlus USB drivers.
Download and install Minimal ADB & Fastboot drivers.
Download SuperSu.zip file and copy it to your phone’s internal storage.

Unlock OnePlus X Bootloader

Unlocking bootloader will wipe your device. Make sure that you’ve backed up everything before going ahead.

Make sure that you’ve downloaded and installed Minimal ADB & Fastboot drivers on your Windows PC or installed Mac ADB & Fastboot for Mac.
Connect your phone to your PC now.
Now open Minimal ADB & Fastboot.exe from your desktop. If you do not have this file on your desktop, then go to your Windows installation drive i.e. C drive > Program Files > Minimal ADB & Fastboot > Press and hold Shift Key + Right click on an empty area with the open folder > click “Open command window here”.
Now in the command window enter the following commands one by one.
- adb reboot-bootloader
  
  This will reboot your Nvidia Shield in bootloader. Once booted up, issue the following command.
  
  fastboot devices
  
  This command will verify the connection of your device with your PC in fastboot mode.
- fastboot oem unlock
  
  This command will unlock the bootloader. As soon as you press the enter key after typing this command, you will get a message in your phone asking for the confirmation of bootloader unlocking. Use volume up & down keys to navigate through options and confirm unlocking.
- fastboot reboot
  
  This command will reboot your phone. That’s all, disconnect your phone.

How To Install TWRP Recovery on OnePlus X

Download recovery.img file for OnePlus X.
Rename the download file as only recovery.img and then copy this file to Minimal ADB & Fastboot folder which is located in program files in your windows installation drive.
Now boot your OnePlus X into fastboot mode as suggested in the step 4 above.
Connect your OnePlus X to your PC now.
Open Minimal ADB & Fastboot.exe or the command window as explained in step 3 above.
Now in the command window enter following commands:

fastboot devices

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot boot recovery.img

(this will boot your device in TWRP recovery mode)

To boot manually in to TWRP recovery mode, unplug USB cable from your OnePlus X and turn off your device completely by keeping the power key pressed for a while. Now press and hold Volume Down + Power Key to turn on your OnePlus X. As soon as your phone’s screen turns on, leave the Power Key and keep the Volume Down Key pressed. Your device will now boot into TWRP recovery mode.

How To Root OnePlus X

Make sure that you’ve copied SuperSu.zip file to your phone. In case you haven’t, do it now.
Now boot your phone in to TWRP recovery mode. To do so, turn it off completely first. Now turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Down + Power Key. If this doesn’t work for you then try Volume Up + Power or both, Volume Down + Up + Power to boot into recovery mode.
As you see TWRP recovery, tap “Install > Locate the copied SuperSu.zip file (should be at bottom) > tap this file > Swipe the bar at the bottom of screen to confirm flash”.
As soon as SuperSu.zip file is flashed, go back to main menu in TWRP and tap reboot > system.
Your device will boot up now. Find SuperSu in app drawer. Install Root Checker app to verify root access.

DN5, short for Ditto Note 5, ROM is now available for Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. The ROM carries features from the latest test Marshmallow firmware that landed in for the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5. By installing DN5 ROM on your Galaxy S6 / S6 Edge, you can get all features of Android 6.0 Marshmallow on your device right now. How To Install DN5 ROM on your Galaxy S6 / S6 Edge and get all Android Marshmallow Features

Before you flash this ROM, you need to make sure that you’ve read and applied all the guidelines explained above.

Required Downloads

Download Ditto Note 5 ROM.zip file for your Galaxy S6
Download Ditto Note 5 ROM.zip for your Galaxy S6 Edge
Download Fix Lockscreen DN5 V5.zip.
Download Android Marshmallow SmartManager_v3.rar file.

Download all the .zip files linked above according to your device and copy the downloaded files to the sd card of your Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge.
Make sure that you’ve installed TWRP recovery on your Galaxy S6 / S6 Edge.
Now boot into TWRP recovery, to do so, turn off your device and then turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Up+ Home Button + Power Key. Select Wipe >Advanced Wipe > Wipe System, Cache and Dalvik Cache. You can also perform a factory data reset.
Once you’re in TWRP recovery, tap Advanced option and perform a factory data rest.
Now get back to the main menu in TWRP recovery and tap “Install > Locate the Ditto Note 5 ROM.zip file > Swipe finger to flash > flash the ROM”
Now get back to the main menu once again, tap “Install > locate Fix Lockscreen DN5 V5.zip file > Swipe finger to flash > flash the file”.
Similarly flash the SmartManager file.
Once you’ve flashed all the files, tap Advanced wipe option and wipe cache + dalvik cache of your Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
Now tap the Reboot option in TWRP recovery and reboot into system.
Your S6 or S6 Edge will take a while to reboot into system. Once it boots up, you will have the Ditto Note 5 ROM installed with Android Marshmallow features on your phone. Enjoy!

Android 6.0 Marshmallow has a hidden System UI Tuner that allows customisation of the status bar. You can re-arrange and customise the quick settings and icons located in the status bar of your Android 6.0 Marshmallow using the hidden System UI Tuner. The System UI Tuner hides some cool options that may be used by Android power users. Wondering how you can locate this hidden System UI Tuner? Well, for that you’ll have to follow the instructions attached below. You can follow this guide to enable and access the System Tuner UI located inside Android 6.0 Marshmallow and customise your status bar.

It looks like Google has been learning quite a lot from the custom ROMs lately. Android came with only a few hidden settings until the Android 5.0 Lollipop. With the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Google introduced a number of new features but kept them hidden. Android 6.0 Marshmallow has a hidden file manager, it also has a hidden multi-window mode, there are developer options that almost everyone of you knows and some other cool features like the Android logo hidden inside the version number of your Android device. These hidden settings are pretty much handy. If you’re an Android user having Android Marshmallow installed on your device, you must give a try to this newly discovered System UI Tuner to enhance your status bar.

How to enable hidden System UI Tuner in Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Pull down the notification bar of your Android 6.0 Marshmallow powered phone or tablet.
Long press the little gear icon located between the battery indicator and user profile picture in the status bar.
Wait for 5 – 7 seconds while keeping the gear pressed, it will start spinning.
One the gear starts spinning, it will display a notification as “Congrats! System UI Tuner has been added to settings.“
This will add System UI Tuner in the settings application of your Android 6.0 Marshmallow powered device.

How to access System UI Tuner after enabling it

Once you’ve enabled System UI Tuner using the steps explained above, open the Settings app on your device.
Scroll all the way down and locate “System UI Tuner” and tap it to open it.
It will display you a warning messages as “Fun for some but not for all. These experimental features may change, break or disappear in future releases. Proceed with caution.”
Tap “Got it” and proceed.

Customising the Status bar

Now that you’re inside the System UI Tuner settings, you will find a number of options. Here’s what you can do with these options.

Quick Settings Tiles: You can make your desired quick settings tiles appear in the status bar using this option. You can also rearrange the tiles that appear in the status bar. You can also control the options that appear in the status bar such as battery percentage icon. After applying changes, you can enable a “Demo mode” to checkout your changes. In case you don’t like your applied changes and you want to reset these settings, you can simply tap the “Reset” button in quick settings tiles.

Status bar: Using the Status bar option, you can hide icons from your status bar. In case you don’t want the icons of Hotspot, Do not disturb, Work profile, WiFi, Ethernet, Cellular Data, Airplane mode, Bluetooth, Cast to appear in your notification / status bar, you can hide these buttons using Status bar settings.

Show embedded percentage option: This options helps you to modify the battery icon appearing atop of your status bar. For instance, if your device isn’t on charging, your device’s current battery percentage will be showing inside that little battery circle. You won’t have to pull down the notification bar to find out the remaining battery.

Demo mode: Demo mode wipes-off the status bar. It shows the full percentage for battery and full signal strength with time set to 6:00. Demo mode doesn’t seem to be purposeful as it only shows a wiped up notification bar.
