Install TWRP Recovery and Root Galaxy S6 Edge on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

It’s been quite a while since the Galaxy S6 Edge has been updated to the official Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware. The Marshmallow update wiped root access, custom recoveries and custom kernels from the devices of Android power users. If you’re one of the said users, you might be willing to unleash the power of your device running on this all-new version of Android. In order to begin with that, you will definitely need the custom recovery and root access once again. The good news for Galaxy S6 Edge owners having Marshmallow flashed is, they can now easily flash a TWRP 3.0 recovery and also gain root access on their device.

This has been made possible by means of a custom kernel, SpaceX by Manh_IT. SpaceX kernel will let you root your Galaxy S6 Edge on Marshmallow firmware and then also let you root your phone on the go. Here’s a comprehensive guide to learn to root your Galaxy S6 Edge running Android Marshmallow and also to flash the TWRP 3.0 recovery on it. Method#1: Root Galaxy S6 Edge on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow using SpaceX Kernel

Make sure that you’ve installed Samsung USB drivers, downloaded and extracted Odin3 v3.10.6, and also downloaded the SpaceX-Kernel according to your device. Also make sure that you’ve copied the SuperSU.APK file to your phone.
Now put your Galaxy S6 Edge in download mode. To do so, turn it off completely. Now turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Down + Home + Power Key. Once your phone boots up with a warning, press Volume Up Key to continue. Now your phone is in download mode. Connect it to your PC now.
Now open Odin3.exe on your computer.
Once Odin detects your phone in the download mode the, box ID:COM box will turn blue. If it doesn’t turn blue, then connect your phone properly first.
The only options checked in Odin should be Auto-Reboot and F.Reset.Time. No other options should be touched.
Now in Odin, click on the “AP” tab and select the downloaded SpaceX-kernel.tar.md5 file.
Click Start in Odin. It will flash the SpaceX-Kernel on your phone.
Once the flashing is done, your phone will reboot.
Once it boots up, go to the file manager and locate the copied SuperSU.APK file.
Tap the APK file and follow on-screen instructions to install it.
Reboot your phone now.
That’s all. You can now install Root Checker to check root access on your phone. Best of luck.

Install TWRP and Root Galaxy S6 on Android Marshmallow

Just a few days back Samsung broke the silence and started updating the Galaxy S6 to much awaited Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware. Galaxy S6 owners, who also happen to be Android power users, they must have lost the root access and any custom recovery if they had it installed prior to updating their device to the Marshmallow firmware. A workaround to flash the TWRP 3.0 and also root the Galaxy S6 running Android Marshmallow has been found.

As we move ahead, we will go through a comprehensive guide to install TWRP 3.0 recovery on our beloved Galaxy S6 running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. We will also get to root the device, but before rooting or flashing TWRP recovery, we will have to install a custom kernel to make the device rootable and flashable. The kernel we are talking about is the SpaceX kernel by XDA Senior Member Manh_IT. Once we are done installing the SpaceX kernel, we will be able to root the device easily and also install TWRP 3.0 recovery on it. Before heading towards the installation instructions, let’s go through some early preps to stay on the safest end.

The guide here will work to root the Galaxy S6’s following variants only.
- SM-G920F
- SM-G920S
- SM-G920L
- SM-G920K
Check your device’s model number under settings > general / more > about device. Do not try this on any other device as you will simply result in bricking it.

How to Reset Forgotten Admin & Standard User Password OSX 10.11 El Capitan:

Step∗1: First you have to boot you Mac into recovery mode. Click on Apple->Restart, while holding down the Command + R button. When you the see the startup screen release the button.

Step∗2: Now go to the Utilites menu and select Terminal.

Step∗3: In terminal type ‘reset password’ and press enter.

Step∗4: Now you’ll see a new windows, select Hard Drive and the select the user from the below, for whom you want to reset the password.

Step∗5: Enter the new password and click on save. As for confirmation you’ll see a message about keychain account.

Following are the instruction on how to install PEAR on OSX 10.11 El Capitan..

Pear is a PHP package manager and sad news is that it doesn’t come by as default application in OS X, in the following tutorial i’ll tell you how to install PEAR on OSX 10.11 El Capitan.

How To install PEAR on OSX 10.11 El Capitan:

First open Terminal on your Mac.
Now enter the following commands as mentioned.
Move into your home directory.

cd

Check version

pear version

If pear is not installed then use the following command.

curl -O http://pear.php.net/go-pear.phar

Once its downloaded, use the following command to install it.

php -d detect_unicode=0 go-pear.phar

Now wait for process to start and when you see beginning installation. Press Enter.
Once installation is completed, now you have to add pear to your shell path. Use the following command.

cd

nano .bash_profile

Use the following command to add to your path.

/Users/USERNAME/pear/bin

After adding the path you’ll following line in result.

export PATH=”/usr/local/mysql/bin:/Users/USERNAME/pear/share/pear/:$PATH”

Now you have to refresh the file and check pear version.

source .bash_profile

pear version

Now that Pear is installed on your OSX El Capitan, lets add the Pear path to your PHP install.

First let us locate PHP on your OSX. Type the following command.

php –ini

Once you got the path, now all you have to do is add into php.ini file.
