The younger sibling of Galaxy S5 is now being updated to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Samsung started rolling out this update to the G800R4 variant of the device in United States, which means the update will be finding its way to the other variants pretty soon. The new update beings all sweetness of the Lollipop to Galaxy S5 Mini. New stuff includes a completely revamped TouchWiz UI in accordance with the Material Design. New notifications on lockscreen have been introduced. Lollipop also improves the performance and battery life of the Galaxy S5 Mini. Some security flaws have been kicked out from the firmware which also includes elimination of Stagefirght vulnerability. This update is making its way to the users through OTA and Samsung Kies at the moment.
It’s going to take while for the software guys at Samsung to cook this update for other regions and other variants and then push it towards the users. While they do so, some Android freaks like me who own the G800R4 variant of the Galaxy S5 Mini, they may not want to wait and update their device right away. It doesn’t matter what region you’re from, you update your Galaxy S5 Mini to this latest and greatest version of Android through Samsung’s flashtool Odin.
