It’s just been a few minutes since Google announced the official Android P roll out. Google has ended the developer preview program today and it will roll out the stable builds of Android P for the pixel phones. The P in Android P stands for Pie. Usually, the Pixel phones are always the first ones to get the latest version of Android, but, that’s not the case at least today. There is another manufacturer in the scene totally beating Google for now. We are talking about the Essential Phone, the company founded by Android’s founder. Essential, under Andy Rubin, has already started rolling out the Android Pie update for the Essential Phone PH-1.

Some Twitter users event tweeted the pictures of the software update being available for their phone. Essential confirmed that the users running Android P beta on their phones will also get the Android Pie OTA update.

Throughout the developer preview rollouts, Essential has been consistently updating the Android P Beta for its PH-1 right after Google. On the final day, Essential has clearly beaten Google by pushing the update even before Google’s very own phones. The same thing happened back when the Moto X received the Android Lollipop update before the Nexus lineup.
