With Snapdragon 845 already here, it is only a matter of waiting before the LG G7 is going to be released. With the V30 much better than the G6, and the Signature Edition being a better variant of the latest flagship, it will be up to the manufacturer to make sure that it releases the best possible Android flagship for 2018.
It looks like the LG G7 might finally obtain the ability to unlock itself thanks to the inclusion of an iris scanner. According to LetsGoDigital, a patent submitted by LG details the utilization of iris scanning technology, but it is possible that it could be better than the feature present in the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and the Galaxy Note 8.
This iris scanner is said to be operational in different lighting conditions, but LG may be working on additional security features for its take on iris scanning. Out of the several features, one of them could involve the user tracing a series of dots on the screen with their eyes, so as to make sure that no one attempts to break into the phone using just an image. To remind you, this is the exact same way the security of the Galaxy S8 and the rest of Samsung’s flagships released this year had their security compromised.
At the Korea Electronics Show (KES) held last year, LG did reveal a new type of all-in-one module that could serve as both a front-facing camera and an iris scanner, but is it yet to be commercially available in a smartphone? Yes, indeed, but there is good news about the LG G7 as it could feature this security implementation plus others if the company wants to have a competitive advantage over Samsung and its Galaxy S9.
LG G7 has been rumored to be unveiled in January 2018 so it will be a good year for the company if the official release of the device takes place much earlier.
