Required downloads and installations
- Download and install Android ADB and Fastboot drivers on your computer. Here’s an Android ADB and Fastboot guide for Windows and here’s one for Mac OS X.
- Download the CF-Auto-Root file carefully according to your device and unzip it using a software like 7zip or winrar.
How To Root Android N Developer Preview
- Boot your Nexus device into bootloader mode. To do so, turn it off completely. Now turn it by pressing and holding Volume Down + Power Key. You will see the bootloader mode on the screen now.
- Now open the unzipped CF-Auto-Root file.
- Connect your phone to your PC now while it’s booted into the Bootloader mode.
- From the CF-Auto-Root file, run the file according to your system i.e.
- for Windows run: root-windows.bat
- for Linux run: root-linux.sh
- for Mac OS X run: root-mac.sh
- Once the file opens up and runs, it will quickly root your Android N powered Google Nexus device.
- Once done, reboot your device and find SuperSU in the app drawer.
- You can verify the root access using Root Checker application now.
