Sony Xperia SP C5302/C5303: Install Official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean 12.1.A.1.201 Firmware [How to – Guide]

Sony rolled out another Android 4.3 Jelly Bean based firmware update for it’s mid-range device Xperia SP. The new update is based on the build number 12.1.A.1.201. The new update’s purpose is only to fix some common bugs found in the previous Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates. In the following post we are going to install this update manually on Sony Xperia SP C5302 and C5303. In case you haven’t received this update yet or you just want to re-install this stock firmware on your Xperia SP, you may proceed with the following comprehensive method.

Let’s have a look at the changelog of this update first:

- Fixed LED Bug
- Fixed RAM Bug
- Overheating Issue Fixed.
- Battery Usage Issue Fixed.
- Touch Screen Response Issue Fixed.
- Few others bugs have been fixed in this update as well, but Bravia Engine is not yet working.

Here are the pre-installation instructions to install this update:

1. This guide is only for Sony Xperia SP C5303 and C5302. Please check your device model first in Settings > About Device > Model.
2. You must have installed Sony Flashtool – Get the full guide here. Also Install drivers using Flashtool > Drivers > Flashtool-drivers > Flashmode, Xperia SP, Fastboot, select all these and install.
3. Your phone’s battery must be charged at least over 60%. This is highly recommended in order to prevent any power issues during the process.
4. Flashing this firmware will wipe all your apps, apps data, system data, contacts, call logs & messages. It will not wipe the internal storage (media) data. Proceed after you’ve backed up, in the next step the guides are linked in.
5. Make sure that you backup your media content,contacts, call logs and text messages. This is important and recommended so that in case you decide to wipe your phone during the flashing process, you can get all of your data back using the backup.
6. Enable USB debugging mode on your device. To do so, tap settings>developer options>USB debugging. If you can’t find developer options in settings, then tap settings > about device and tap “Build Number” for 7 times and you’ll get em’ activated under settings.
7. To flash this firmware, you do not need to root your device, you do not need to unlock the bootloader. All you need is, your device must be the one mentioned and must be running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean or 4.1.2Jelly Bean.
8. Download the firmware file properly.
9. Use the OEM data cable to connect your phone to your PC. Using any other data cable might cause connection problems.
10. You need enough confidence to perform this custom method.
11. Alright! Follow this guide to the letter in order to prevent any mishap.

How to Install Android 4.3 12.1.A.1.201 Official Firmware on Xperia SP:

1. Download Stock Android 4.3 Jelly Bean 12.1.A.1.201 Firmware for Xperia SP: C5303 | C5302
2. Copy the file and paste in Flashtool>Firmwares folder.
3. Open Flashtool.exe now.
4. Hit the small llightningbutton on the top left corner and select Flashmode.
5. Select the FTF firmware file that you placed in the Firmware folder.
6. From the right side, select what do you want to wipe. Data, cache and apps log, all wipes are recommended, perhaps you may select if you don’t want.
7. Click on OK, and it will start preparing the firmware for flashing. This may take a little while to load.
8. As soon as the firmware is loaded, it will prompt you to attach the phone by turning it off and keeping the back key press.
9. For Xperia SP, Volume Down key will do the job of back key, just turn off your phone, keep the Volume Down key pressed and plug in the data cable.
10. As soon as the phone is detected in Flashmode, the firmware will start flashing, Do not leave the Volume Down key until the process is complete.
11. As soon as you see “Flashing ended or Finished Flashing” leave the Volume Down key, plug the cable out and reboot.
12. That’s All! Congrats! You’ve installed latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean 12.1.A.1.201 on your Xperia SP Enjoy.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, as the name suggest is a 10.1-inch tablet released in January 2014, with some high-end specs,, running Android 4.4 Kit-Kat and like any other Samsung Device, CF-Auto root method is available for it now. The only problem with this device is that it has no 2G network and No SIM support and only connectivity it has is Wi-Fi. Nonetheless, if you own a Galaxy Tab Pro and trying to find the CF-Auto root tool for it, you are on the right spot.Rooting allows you to get full control over your device, Stock apps and mods are good, but installing Custom Mods gives you better support and great battery life, you might need to delete some Stock apps from the device, a non-rooted device can’t do that, but a rooted one has the power to remove stock apps too.

If you are familiar with Odin and it’s working, then this tutorial might not be difficult for you. Otherwise read the whole tutorial first before trying it on your device. Go to Recovery, Turn off your Phone and Turn it On While Pressing, Power + Volume Up + Home button until you see some text on-screen.

How To Root It.

Download Odin.

Make Sure that the USB drivers are installed.
Open Odin in Computer and connect your device to PC, while it is in the Download mode.
If your Phone is successfully connected to PC, the Odin port will turn Yellow with COM port number.
Now Click on PDA and select the File ‘CF-Auto-Root-picassowifi-picassowifixx-smt520.zip‘ or the one who has the biggest size.
In Odin, Check “Auto reboot” Option.
Now Click the start button and wait for the process to complete.
After the installation is complete you device will restart and once you see the Home Screen and get the “Pass” Message on Odin, unplug the cable.

If You See “Fail” Instead Of “Pass”.

By Any Chance if you see Fail Message instead of Pass, Odin haven’t Rooted your device but Recovery has been installed. Go to Recovery HOW? Take out the Battery, Put it back after 3-4 seconds, Press and Hole Power + Volume Up + Home button until you are in Recovery mode. The rest of the process will automatically start there and Super SU will install on your device.

That’s it your Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1T520 has been Rooted On Android 4.4.2 Kit-Kat. Download any Root Checker app or See Super SU in app Drawer to Verify root access.

Getting a new software is not a difficult task and all those who have tried it before can straightforward download and install it, but to avoid any confusion and to make sure that you install it easily, we have compiled a very simple guide on how to start running Windows 8.1 update 1. Do you still remember the difficulty of Flappy Bird? Well, it isn’t been that long yet. Flappy Bird was taken off from the Google Play Store by the developer due to its over-rating, but there was a number of similar games landing in every other day in Android’s app store. All the apps copied the concept and idea, even the graphics of Flappy Bird, there were only few developers who changed the graphics of their games but rest were all same as that of the Flappy Bird.

What just has landed now in the Play Store is something great, that came out of the Flappy Bird concept. Mr Flap, developed by 1Button prompts the players to spin the square bird through the circular track passing through the gaps. One circular round gives you 1 score, the more rounds you run, more points you earn. Mr Flap, packed up only in 4.7 MBs sports really nice graphics, it is much addictive but also frustrates the players when the game gets over again and again. The attempts to bring True Multi-Tasking to a Smartphone are getting pretty much popularity and after what Samsung brought in the Android market, users of iOS are demanding the same thing from Apple and thank GOD that Jailbreak developers are not giving everything in Apple’s hand, otherwise getting Multi-Window concept in iOS will be a dream as always. Thanks to Ryan Petrich for bringing the Multi-Window concept in iPhone/iPad. VideoPane is a Jailbreak Tweak that does the Job very beautifully and without any lag or force stop. It may not work on all the apps, but this single step will open doors to many other apps, who might bring full Multi-window concept or True Multi-Tasking.

For those who don’t know about VideoPan, it allows users to watch online videos without any restrain. It means that a user open a Video using Youtube App and then ‘Undocked’ allowing video to continue play even if the user go off or surfing the web within safari. The video continues to play on the top of whatever is going on beneath. This is first attempt to bring Multi-Window concept in iOS and by the looks of it has pretty much succeeded. Open Cydia.

Another difficult game made its way to the Google Play Store named as Mr Flap. Mr Flap’s name may give you a feel that the game is similar to that of the Flappy Bird, but it’s not. Since the removal of Flappy Bird from the Google Play Store there was a number of games based on the same concept, some just went well while others did’t get much air. Now, Mr Flap is there to continue that difficulty and take it to a new level. Although Mr Flap consists of a bird and you got to Flap that bird through the gaps, but the circular tracks, square bird and the game’s high quality graphics help it enough to differentiate from Flappy Bird. In short, we can say that the developer has just found something creative out of the Flappy Bird concept and presented in the Play Store now.

The game is packed up in just 4.7 MBs and requires a device having Android 4.0+ to run on. Install GlamourS4/N3 ROM on Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 and Get the Feel of Galaxy Note 3

Galaxy Note 3 topped the charts when it came out last year in September. There wasn’t just one reason for the device to be on top, the very first time Samsung wasn’t criticized for the phone’s body and design. Keeping these things atop, Samsung installed some nice and uncommon features like Air Command, S Finder, some new applications that were introduced also helped Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 to win the ground. Earlier, the features of Galaxy Note 3 were ported to Galaxy Note 2 by the awesome developers over XDA forums and users were able to enjoy the look, feel and features of Note 3 on their Note 2 without any hitch. A similar port has landed for Galaxy S3 as well recently named as “GalmourS4/N3” ROM.

GlamourS4/N3, developed by henrylife, gives your Samsung Galaxy S3 a look and feel of Galaxy Note 3, the ROM also packs up the new features and applications ported from Note 3 to S3. Basically the ROM is based on MK6 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware for the Galaxy S3, but is modded to the extreme level for the offerings in it’s list. Alongwith the Galaxy Note 3 features, look and other stuff, GalmourS4 ROM is also said to be fast, responsive and stable and is optimized for the best use. In the following post we are going to install this awesome ROM on the Galaxy S3 GT-I9300. We’ll be having a look on the features this ROM is sporting and then head towards the pre-installation and installation instructions.

Pre-Installation Instructions:

This ROM is only for Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300. Do not try this on any other device, please check your device’s model in Settings > About Device > Model.
Your device must have a custom recovery installed, in case you’re missing it you may Follow our full guide here to install TWRP.
Your device’s battery should be charged at least over 60%. This is highly in order to prevent any power issues during the flashing process.
Make sure that you backup your important media content, Contacts, Call Logs & Messages. This is highly recommended just in case something goes wrong and you need to reset your phone.
If you already have rooted your device, use Titanium Backup to back up all your important apps + system data. Also if you are using a custom recovery, it is recommended that you backup your current system using that first. [Just for the sake of safety]. Here’s our full Nandroid Backup guide.
You will have to go through Data Wipes during installation of this ROM, so make sure that you have backed up all the mentioned data.
Make an EFS backup of your phone before you flash this ROM.
You need enough confidence to flash this ROM.
Alright! Go ahead and flash the custom firmware, follow this guide to the letter.

How to Install GalmourS4/N3 Custom ROM on Galaxy S3 GT-I9300:

Download GlamourS4/N3 ROM .zip file.
Connect your phone to your PC now.
Copy the .zip files to the storage of your phone.
Now disconnect your phone and turn it off complete.
Boot into TWRP recovery now, in order to do so, turn it on by pressing and holding Volume Up + Home Button + Power Key. You should see the recovery mode in a while.
Now in TWRP recovery select wipe option and wipe cache, factory data reset, dalvik cache.
After wiping all these three, select “Install” option.
Now select “Install > Choose Zip from SD card / locate the zip file > Select GlamourS4.zip file > Yes”.
This will flash the ROM in your phone.
Reboot your device as soon as flashing is done.
You should see the GlamourS4/N3 ROM running on your device in a while.

First boot may take up to 10 minutes, you may not worry if it’s taking that much long. In case it’s taking too long, you may boot into CWM or TWRP recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache and reboot your device as it may fix the issue. In case your device is having issues, you may return to your old system using the Nandroid backup or follow our guide here to install stock firmware.

Since the Team Hackulo.us has stopped supporting Installous and its further development, Installous and its related Repos and Tweaks are no longer available on Cyida. However Installous was such a great tweak, you can download IPA files using it, despite that it does not work for all, still everyone loved it and after the death of Installous, Jailbreak users are looking for alternate apps that can be used to do the work of Installous. We have compiled a list of alternate apps of Installous. Scroll down and choose the best for you.

1. iFunbox

iFunbox may not be able to compete with Installous but still it is one of the finest Installous alternates out there. The best part about this Application is that it comes in a desktop version, it is fun and easy to use. You don’t need to learn much about this app as you can either search within the app or the one you already downloaded.

2.VShare

vShare was once AppVV and it is pretty much has the resources of Installous. So, in a sense it is same as Installous with some changes in the interface but vShare requires you to download Appsync on Cydia, that means you need to add “repo.appvv.com” repo to Cydia.
