Galaxy Note 9 Press Render Leaked

Update: It looks like things are spillling out of Samsung’s hands. Just a couple of days ago, the famous leakster Evan Blass a.k.a EVLeaks posted a press render of the Galaxy Note 9. The picture shows almost everything that the users have been waiting for. The Galaxy Note 9 can be seen following the design language of the Galaxy Note 8. The picture shows how cool the S-Pen is going to be. A headphone jack can be seen on the bottom as well. Fingerprint scanner placement has been changed. Samsung has moved it below the camera to make it easy for users to reach out to it. The Galaxy Note 9 will be offered in a couple of new colors as well.

Earlier, a set of images made it to the web. The images showed the Note 9 from the front and the back. The images are as same as those of the CAD-based renders. The image leaked by EVLeaks also proves that these pictures of the Galaxy Note 9 were legit.

Galaxy Note 9 Unpacked Event on the way!

Update: Samsung has now rolled out the invitations to the launch of Galaxy Note 9. Samsung Unpacked Event 2018 will take place on August 9, 2018. The event will take place in the New York City.

A new leaked picture of the Galaxy Note 9 has also confirmed the headphone jack on the phone. Samsung is in no mood to make itself controversial by following the footsteps of Apple. The Galaxy Note 9 has the headphone jack and unfortunately, the headphone jack has now become a rare feature found on only a few of the flagship devices.

Earlier, a render of the Galaxy Note 9 also showed that the phone is going to be way identical to the Galaxy Note 8. No, there is no notch on this phone either. The Galaxy Note 9 has a complete edge-to-edge infinity display on the front. No fingerprint scanner is expected on this device as of now.

CAD-based renders

Update: The CAD-based renders of the Galaxy Note 9 have surfaced. It turns out that the Galaxy Note 9 is going to have the same design and build as its predecessor. The Galaxy Note 9’s dimensions are expected to be 161.9 x 76.3 x 8.8 mm. From the front, the phone looks exactly the same as Note 8. However, the back is different when it comes to the camera. The Galaxy Note 9 has a fingerprint scanner below the camera rather next to the camera. Leaks also suggest that this phone will have a 3,850 mAh battery under the hood.

Not impressed by the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus? It’s time to look forward to the mighty Galaxy Note 9. Samsung has been releasing a new Note handset at the IFA event for the past few years. As the IFA event approaches us, we will be nearing the official launch of the Galaxy Note  9 as well. The unpacked event takes usually takes place between August and September. While Samsung gears up its game, we will take a look at what the upcoming beast from the South Korean giant is going to pull out. Here’s a look at the Galaxy Note 9 News, Specs, Features, Price & Release Date.

A flashback to the Note series and expectations from the Note 9

Samsung changed the design of its Galaxy Note series with the release of Galaxy Note 7. Things didn’t turn out well for Samsung and the Note 7 turned out to be a disaster. Samsung survived the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco by recalling the device and compensating the affected users. After the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung released the same device as the Galaxy Note Fan Edition. The later device was free of all the issues that the original Note 7 encountered.

The Note 7 had an incredible display. The edges on both sides of the screen made it a remarkable device. Samsung further improved its display in the Galaxy Note 8. In between, Samsung released the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus which completely revamped the design language followed the phone manufacturer. The same design language was used on the Galaxy Note 8 which helped the company to wipe off the Note 7 debacle from its users’ view.

Now, all the eyes are set on the Galaxy Note 9. Samsung has already achieved the biggest milestones in terms of design, build and display of its handsets. Expectations are really solid from the Galaxy Note 9. Everyone’s curious whether the Note 9 will outperform Samsung’s very own Galaxy Note 8 or not. The Note 9 will come with a number of notable features that will definitely put it ahead of the competition.

The Galaxy Note 9 will come before Apple’s next iPhone. The release time of the Note series also gives the company an edge to grab a huge number of sales. Here’s a breakdown of all the features and specs expected on the Note 9.

Galaxy Note 9 – The Crown

The Galaxy Note 9 codename is already out. Samsung has named the device as “Crown“. The Galaxy Note 8 was codenamed “Gr3AT”. The Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus were codenamed “Star”. There is no doubt that the Note 8 was actually great and the S9 stole the show with the help of the adjustable aperture in its camera. Samsung wants to supersede the GR3AT and the Star by pulling out the CROWN now.

Under-display Fingerprint Scanner

Ever since the trend of all-display smartphones took over, the race for an under-display fingerprint reader began. It was highly anticipated that Apple will put an on-screen fingerprint scanner in its iPhone X. After the iPhone X came out, users were greatly disappointed since there was absolutely no fingerprint reader, not even at its back. The only way to unlock the phone was through Apple’s Face ID which was quite efficient.

The absence of a fingerprint scanner on the iPhone X gave Samsung one more chance to put the fingerprint reader under the display of its phone. Unfortunately, Samsung couldn’t add it to the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus either. Samsung, however, did improve the placement of the scanner by moving it beneath the camera lens.

So, not a single mainstream smartphone maker has been able to introduce the in-screen fingerprint scanner so far. The eyes are on Samsung once again since the reports of an optical fingerprint reader surfaced on the web.

According to tot he KGI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the companies competing for the display contract to develop the 6.3-inch screens for the Note 9 have shipped the samples to Samsung. These displays are most likely to have the optical reader. Samsung will also add a new enhanced facial recognition feature to balance its position against Apple.

Ming-Chi Kuo has quite a decent track when it comes to prognostications about upcoming Galaxy phones. If the new information revealed by Kuo is going to take a truth, Samsung will end up setting new standards for the smartphone industry.

Galaxy Note 9 Display & Design

There is not going to be a design overhaul. The information revealed by Kuo also states that the Note 9 will follow the same design aesthetics as that of the Note 8.

The display will be of 6.3-inch and it will be having WQHD+ resolution once again. Samsung will just upgrade the display with the help of the aforementioned optical scanner.

As far as the build of the phone is concerned, the Note 9 will have a glass panel on the front and the back as well. The aluminum frame will surround the display having the SIM slot, volume rockers, Bixby and power buttons.

The dimensions of the Note 9 are also expected to be the same as the Note 8. The Note 9 will be protected by IP68 certification making it resistant to water and dust. The iconic S-Pen is definitely going to be there.

Galaxy Note 9 Hardware

Galaxy Note 9 will definitely make the use of the top-notch hardware available at the moment. This includes the latest Snapdragon 845 CPU and Samsung’s in-house Exynos 9810 CPU. These were the CPUs used on the S9 and S9 Plus as well. Samsung always uses the same CPU for the S and Note series that are released within the same year. So, the Note 9 will have most of its hardware specifications similar to the Galaxy S9.

The RAM on the Galaxy Note 9 can either be 6GB or 8GB. On the Note 8 and S9 Plus, we have a 6GB RAM. If 8GB becomes a need, Samsung will most probably add that to the phone.

A report that came out very recently, suggests that the Note 9 will have a 3,850mAh battery. The Note 8 came out with a 3,300 mAh battery. If the Note 9 will have a 3,850 mAh battery, it will be 17% bigger than the Note 8 in terms of battery capacity. The Note 9 will also become the first Samsung Galaxy flagship with this kind of a huge battery.

The internal storage of the Note 9 will begin at 64GB as well. Samsung adds the external storage slot to its phones as well, so you can definitely expect to add a 400GB microSD in the Galaxy Note 9.

Galaxy Note 9 Cameras

Samsung just grabbed the top spot from the Google Pixel in the DxOmark rankings. Unfortunately, that spot was quickly grabbed by Huawei when it released the Huawei P20 lineup. Now that Samsung has already introduced a new camera with an adjustable aperture on the Samsung Galaxy S9, it is most likely to use the same setup on the Note 9.

A dual camera, as same as that of the S9 Plus is expected on the Note 9. For this year, it’s highly unlikely that Samsung will be able to outperform Huawei in the camera department. Samsung did achieve a milestone, but the milestone was very shortlived.

On the front, Samsung will use the same 8MP shooter. We expect to see a number of software improvements in the phone’s camera application.

Galaxy Note 9 Software

Android 8.1 Oreo is the Note 9 software that’s going to run the Samsung Experience UI atop of it. Samsung has a very bad track when it comes to software updates. Expect the Note 9 to receive the Android P in the April of the year 2019.

Galaxy Note 9 Price & Release Date

The Galaxy Note 9 will come with a price tag of $900 – $1000. This is the same price tag that the Galaxy Note 8 had at the time of its release. The Note 9 will not cost lesser than the Note 8.

The phone will come out sometime between August and September 2018. Samsung will hold its exclusive event at the IFA, Berlin which is going to take place between 31 August to 5th of September 2018.

Here are the release dates of the previous Galaxy Note phones.
