AI-assistants are the buzz word of the year and different companies are using this as a selling point for their products. Google introduced Google Assistant which is now rolling to different Android devices and HTC back in January announced HTC Sense Companion, their AI assistant that will ‘learn from U’. Samsung looking at all of these developments decided to jump the bandwagon and introduce their own voice based AI assistant. From the chatter going on from the past few months we know Samsung will be introducing their voice based AI assistant with Galaxy S8 which will have its own dedicated button. Today the tech giant has confirmed that it will be called Bixby.

Well, no surprise there as we have been calling it Bixby since Samsung filed a trademark for this name. According to Samsung Bixby will be more advanced than any other AI assistant as it will be integrated with native apps. Along with that Bixby through the smartphone camera will be capable of text recognition and visual search. You will also be able to make online payments with Samsung Pay with Bixby. To ensure that their AI assistant has a wider broader audience, Samsung claims that Bixby will support up to 8 languages, Google Assistant in comparison supports 4 languages.

Samsung will be announcing Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ on March 29th, more about what Bixby can do will be revealed then. So, what do you think, will Bixby be one of the star selling features of the device?
