Samsung has a lot riding on Galaxy S8, their S-series flagship for 2017. This will be the first flagship that will be unveiled after the Galaxy Note 7 disaster. To make the Galaxy S8 a success, one of the features that Samsung is planning to introduce is their own AI virtual assistant, Bixby. This is similar to what iPhone has in the form of Siri and HTC recently introduced HTC Sense Companion.

Bixby will be used for making online payments and along with that it will integrate with native apps. Along with that Bixby will also have the capability of making use of Galaxy S8’s camera for visual search and text recognition. According to the updated information, the camera app will have its own Bixby button. It will give the virtual assistant access to the visual that you want to analyze and search.

This means that the Bixby will be more intuitive and integrated with the apps of the device. Users will not only be able to look for information and things bu also buy stuff online too. At the moment, Samsung is still working on improving the functionality of Bixby. There will be more improvements and tweaks made before the release of the Galaxy S8. As the smartphone will be launching in mid-April, it will give developers time to work out the other features which can make Samsung Bixby stand out from the rest of the virtual assistant available in the market. We sure hope to see a smart Bixby from Samsung. With the competition heating up with different companies bringing in their own virtual assistants, Samsung has a lot to prove.
