Xiaomi Mi 8X aka Mi 8 Youth coming with Snapdragon 710, 3350 mAh battery

The phone making the rounds of rumor mills is the Xiaomi Mi 8X aka the Xiaomi Mi Youth.


Xiaomi introduced the Mi 8 series back in May 2018. The Mi 8 is the flagship device of the Chinese phone maker. Along with the Mi 8, Xiaomi also released a budget variant of the Mi 8 going by the name Mi 8 SE. It looks like that was not it, Xiaomi now seems to be preparing another cheaper variant of the Mi 8. The phone making the rounds of rumor mills is the Xiaomi Mi 8X aka the Xiaomi Mi Youth.

The Xiaomi Mi 8X or Mi 8 Youth first appeared on the Chinese Social Media platform Weibo. The Mi 8X also made it through TENAA and then the MIIT certification. TENAA revealed the phone to carry model number┬áM1808D2TE while the MIIT certification only revealed the phone’s Bluetooth and Radio frequencies.

The phone, according to Weibo, has a 6.26-inch display and it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 CPU. The spec sheet coming from Weibo further tells about the resolution of the phone to be 1080 x 2280 pixels. The phone has a 19:9 display ratio with a notch housing the front camera set up. Under the hood, it has a 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.

Mi 8X aka Mi 8 Youth

The Mi 8 Youth is expected to boast off a dual-rear camera setup with a shooter of 12MP and another shooter of 2MP or 5MP. The shooter on the front will be 24MP. The phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 as mentioned above. It will have a whopping 3,350 mAh battery onboard. The spec sheet doesn’t say anything about the OS of the phone, but it is most likely to run on Android 8.1 Oreo customized by Xiaomi’s MIUI.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth looks like an affordable smartphone targetting the youth. This is the 4th variant of the Xiaomi Mi 8 series. Previously, we have seen the Mi 8, Mi 8 SE and the Mi 8 EE. The Mi 8 SE has almost the same spec sheet as the Mi 8 Youth. It would be interesting to see how Xiaomi markets the Mi 8 Youth and what is going to be new or exciting about this phone.
