Video Call Recording feature15 years ago, Skype changed the way we interacted with our friends and family over the internet. In the presence of platforms like Yahoo and MSN Messenger, Skype offered relatively better video calling experience. The platforms like MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger have phased out now, however, Skype kept on improving and advancing. Skype has once again added one big feature that proves Skype is here to stay.

Skype Video Call Recording

In a first, Skype has been updated with video call recording feature. The call recording feature has been rolled out to the Windows and Android users. As soon as the users start a video call through the platform, they can see a + button on the screen. Pressing the + button shows the “Start recording” option.

The call recording takes place on the servers of Skype. As soon as the users end the call, a copy of the recorded call is sent to the other contact as well. The recorded calls stay on Skype’s cloud for up to 30 days. Both the parties involved in the call can download an offline copy of the recorded call within those 30 days.

Since the call recordings are posted in the chat box, the recordings are not going to be secretive. The other person will be aware whenever the call is being recorded. This ensures the consent of both the persons who are talking over a video call.

Messengers like WhatsApp, Viber, and IMO do not offer video call recording yet. It would be really interesting to see how the new video call recording feature of Skype will be welcomed by the users.

The update is already available on all the platforms that Skype runs on.
