Samsung trademarks ‘Infinity Display’ for Galaxy S8

Samsung will be unveiling Galaxy S8 on 29th March at two dedicated events taking place in London and New York. Knowing Samsung the unpacked event will be spectacular. Galaxy S8 is one of the most anticipated devices of the year, not only because it is a Samsung flagship, but it is the first flagship that the company will announce after the Galaxy Note 7 debacle. So, the Korean tech giant is going to ensure that nothing like that happens and for that purpose that are not only focusing on the testing but also on the specs that they equip the smartphone with. A news out of South Korea reports that Samsung has filed a trademark application for the name ‘Infinity Display‘ with USPTO.

This confirms that Samsung indeed is going to call the display for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ as the ‘Infinity Display‘. This aspect was mentioned in a Guardian report out last month which informed about the infinity display and how the smartphone will have an Infinity Display and a rear fingerprint sensor. The Infinity Display is the name Samsung is going to give to the all screen display of Galaxy S8. Samsung has removed the iconic home button and this has given way to an increased screen to body ratio with minimal bezels. This can is evident in the different videos and live images of the device seen.

Galaxy S8 will be a sleek looking device with powerful specs. Both Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will have a dual curved display with the display size being the only visible difference. Galaxy S8 will have a 5.8-inch display and Galaxy S8+ will have a 6.2-inch display. According to the schematics, both the devices will follow the 18:9 aspect ratio, similar to what LG has used with G6. This will make the device taller and a bit narrower, giving true meaning to the Infinity Display.
