Qualcomm, the most popular smartphone CPU maker has announced the Snapdragon 670 SoC. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 chipset is the successor of the Snapdragon 670 chipset. The new SoC brings a lot of improvements over its predecessor. The new SD 670 SoC has a lot in common with the recently released SD 710 CPU.
To start off, the Snapdragon 670 has the octa-core CPU which is similar to the Snapdragon 710. This octa-core CPU (2 x Kryo 360 + 6 x Kryo 360) has two cores up to 2.0 GHz dedicated to the performance. The six cores up to 1.7 GHz are dedicated to the efficiency. The two performance focused ores are based on the Cortex-A75 architecture while the other 6 cores are based on the A55 architecture. Qualcomm has used the 10nm LPP process to build this CPU.
According to Qualcomm, the new SD670 incorporates Spectra 250. It reduces the power usage by 30%. The new CPU supports up to 25MP selfie shooters and 16MP dual camera setups. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 CPU comes with the brand new Adreno 615 GPU. The Snapdragon 710 CPU has the Adreno 616 GPU, so the Adreno 615 GPU is definitely inferior to the Adreno 616 GPU. SD670 does not support HDR video recording. it doesn’t support QHD+ displays either. It has the X12 LTE modem inside which is similar the SD660.
The Snapdragon 670 also focuses on improving the user experience. While it comes with a new architecture, it also enhances the software. The Snapdragon 670 also provides fast web browsing experience. Devices running on this CPU will achieve a smooth user interface as well. The new SoC also improves the app launch time on the devices.
Qualcomm has emphasized on the fact that Snapdragon 670 is completely different from the Snapdragon 710. It will power up the cheap and low-end smartphones. Snapdragon 670 CPU is now commercially available. Smartphone manufacturers can now grab this CPU to plant in their devices.
