OnePlus is preparing for the launch of OnePlus 6T these days. The phone started making the rounds of rumor mills a couple of months ago. A month back, the OnePlus 6T’s launch was confirmed as the company announced its plans to partner with T-Mobile to launch its next phone in the US. A couple of days ago, an alleged box of the OnePlus 6T showed the phone with a waterdrop and under-display fingerprint scanner. So far, everything was just a rumor and a speculation.
In a turn of events, the company confirmed the OnePlus 6T to come with a fingerprint scanner beneath the display. OnePlus, in an email to Cnet, confirmed that the OnePlus 6T is coming with the latest technology. A picture obtained by Cnet also shows a fingerprint impression on the lockscreen of the phone which also means that there is definitely a fingerprint reader there.
The fingerprint scanner first made it to the Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design. Vivo was the 2nd phone maker to use the Fingerprint reader inside the display of its Vivo Nex, Vivo 11 Pro, Vivo X20 Plus UD and the Vivo X21. Recently, Oppo released its R17 Pro with the same in-display fingerprint reader.

OnePlus 6T coming on 17th of October, set to resemble Oppo R17 Pro
Since Vivo, Oppo and OnePlus are sister companies, it makes absolute sense for OnePlus 6T to have a fingerprint reader in its display. OnePlus phones are known for following the design language of the Oppo phones. This time, the OnePlus 6T is expected to follow in the footsteps of the Oppo R17 Pro. The Oppo R17 Pro comes with a waterdrop notch as well. That’s how the smartphone community started anticipating the OnePlus 6T to have the waterdrop notch and under-display fingerprint reader.
Another interesting thing to note here is the date given on the screenshot showing the reader. The date is the 17th of October 2018. This could mean that the OnePlus 6T is coming out of the curtains on the Wednesday coming in the third week of October.
OnePlus 6T Rumored Specifications
Other rumored specifications of the OnePlus 6T include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 CPU, 6GB or 8GB of RAM with 64/128/256GB internal storage options. OnePlus has been using a 3,300 mAh battery since the OnePlus 5. The same is expected on the OnePlus 6T if OnePlus is not ready to go an extra mile this time. The OnePlus 6T is also rumored to come with three cameras at the back.
