OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T now feature a face unlock feature; here’s how you can get it too

What if we told you that there was an easier way to get Face Unlock on your OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T and you would not be forced to spend $499 on the latest OnePlus 5T?

Wouldn’t that be great? Well, the best things in life are free and what better way to have the freedom to either unlock your OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T using the fingerprint reader or Face Unlock than by using the latest software update released by the manufacturer.

If you did not know, both the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T were updated to OxygenOS 5.0 that is based on Android 8.0, or Android Oreo. While sifting through the settings, you can head on over to the ‘Security & Fingerprint’ menu and follow our instructions from there.

You can tap on the option ‘Smart Lock’ then choose ‘Trusted face’ and then go on to set up your face that will later be used to unlock either the OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T. Now is there going to be any differences you will find with the Face Unlock feature on the OnePlus 5T and the remaining two phones? Yes, there are.

With the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T you will need to swipe the screen before you gain access to the home screen. With the OnePlus 5T, all you have to do is unlock your device and presto, you will gain immediate access. To be fair, we think that you will be able to get around this little obstacle and it is definitely not worth paying $499 just so you can forego a single step to unlock the home screen.

Have you tried out the latest OxygenOS update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T and set up Face Lock identification?
