Google Pixel Experience GSI ROM based on Android Pie is now out. The Pixel Experience ROM runs on all the phones that support Project Treble. The Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus also support Project Treble which means these phones can handle Pixel Experience custom ROM. The Pixel Experience custom ROM is good for so many reasons. In this guide, take a look at the steps to install Galaxy S9 Pixel Experience Android Pie GSI ROM. While you install this ROM on your S9, go through the features of the ROM to learn how it can change the looks of your Galaxy S9.

GSI stands for Generic System Image. The GSI ROMs are designed for Treble-enabled smartphones. These ROMs can run on a number of phones without the modification of the core system. For example, the same build of GSI ROM can run on a OnePlus 6 and the Galaxy S9.
Now comes the variant system of GSI ROMs. There are LineageOS, Resurrection Remix, AOSP, and the Pixel Experience ROMs that have the GSI builds. First of all, the AOSP Android Pie GSI build was released which laid the basis for LineageOS 16 and other ROMs like the Pixel Experience. Now that we have this ROM, we can easily convert a non-pixel phone into a pixel, and why not? There are quite a few reasons to do so.
The Pixel phones run on Vanilla Android. The animations, screen elements, icons, UI and every single thing on the Pixel phones is something that all the smartphone owners want to get on their non-pixel phones. With the Pixel Experience ROM, it has been made a lot easier. You don’t have to flash any application packages, no need to experiment with different launchers on the phone, just flash the ROM and get everything going.
In the ROM we are talking about, almost all the features are working except for the incoming calls on VoLTE. If that’s not something you can’t live without, the ROM is worth it by all the means. The major features like the Wifi, Bluetooth, Camera, Audio & Video Playback and RIL are running smoothly. The ROM may be in its early stages, but it is a daily driver stuff.
Installing this ROM on the Galaxy S9 is incredibly easy. The Galaxy S9 users need a TWRP recovery installed on their phone. There is a build of TWRP recovery available for the Exynos Galaxy S9. If you have a phone with Exynos chipset, you can totally install the recovery and proceed with the ROM installation. If you have a TWRP, it means your bootloader was already unlocked so no need to worry about that.
One thing that you should keep in mind is that it doesn’t matter how much stable a ROM is, it can still act weird out of nowhere. If you have had an experience of flashing custom ROMs in the past, this not going to be an issue for you. Newbies need to pay extra attention to the method explained here. Those of you who are afraid of custom ROMs should better avoid it.
That’s all with the installation of this system on your phone. In case something goes wrong, feel free to flash a stock ROM immediately. For any kind of queries or questions, feel free to reach out to me through the comments section.
