Before, you used to get Huawei phones that were being sold with unlocked versions, so you had to pay the full up-front cost and even then, these devices would not have been compatible with different networks. Things are looking up for the third-largest smartphone manufacturer in the world because according to this announcement, Huawei is going to start selling devices officially in America.

Huawei Mate 10 could officially start getting sold in America from 2018

Richard Yu, President of Huawei says that the company will start to sell smartphones from 2018.

“We will sell our flagship phone, our product, in the U.S. market through carriers next year. I think that we can bring value to the carriers and to consumers. Better product, better innovation, better user experience. In consumer sales, when people really start using Huawei products, they will change their minds.”

Huawei’s presence has been extremely limited in America because carriers were not officially selling its phones. With the company now entering the country, the world’s third-largest smartphone manufacturer could exceed Samsung’s or Apple’s capabilities and become the second-largest smartphone manufacturer in the world.

“We are a Top 3 smartphone supplier but we are very close to the Top 2. So maybe quickly we can be Top 2. Our strength is in developed market. We are not a cheap, low-cost company.”

Since the American government would be skeptical to allow a Chinese giant to enter the country due to cybersecurity issues, Yu has reiterated that the company is not going to be involved in such activities.

“They are lying. We are a company that really cares about cybersecurity and privacy protection. We do a lot better than the other vendors.”

The Huawei President says that more details are going to be provided during CES 2018, and we might also get to see the carriers such as Verizon and AT&T come up with special deals and discounts to celebrate Huawei entering a new region to sell its devices.
