OnePlus has released the OxygenOS based on Android Pie Open Beta 2 for the OnePlus 6. Those users who are running their OnePlus 6 on the Open Beta 1 can now update their phone to the latest version. The Open Beta 2 brings camera improvements and fixes minor bugs.
OnePlus has also stabilized the Wi-Fi connectivity in this latest update. The background power consumption control has been improved. The pocket mode has been improved to reduce the accidental touches. OnePlus has also worked a little bit on the UI of the phone. The multitasking works better now. The UI for the OTP or verification codes has been improved too. It is easier now to find the OTP or verification code that you are looking for.
OnePlus 6 Android Pie
About a week ago, OnePlus released the first Open Beta of Android Pie for the OnePlus 6. This update changes almost everything on the OnePlus 6. The Android Pie has a whole new UI with a handful of new features.
The very first change right after switching to the Android Pie Open Beta is in the notifications area. OnePlus has added round notification icons in the toggles screen. The status bar and its icons have got a new look. The notification cards in the notifications area and also on the home screen have rounded edges now.
OnePlus 6’s recent apps menu has been changed from a vertical slider to a horizontal slider with the applications appearing in a rounded window. The new update also changes the UI of settings application. The arrangement of data in the settings application has changed too. OnePlus has changed the grouping of some of the options under settings application.
Navigation gestures have made their way to the OnePlus 6 now. If you don’t like those 3 navigation buttons on your phone, you can replace them using the navigation gestures.
Another change is in the smart text selection and also the options that appear when you long press an application. Upon selecting a particular text, the phone will now give you the actions that you can take on that text. For example, you are selecting a phone number, the phone will show you the call option. Upon selecting an address, the phone will give you an option to find that address on maps. The app actions were there previously, they have been slightly improved with this update.
Overall, the Android Pie improves the phone’s performance and battery life. The Android Pie update is worth installing as it offers you a lot of new features to experience.

- OnePlus 6 Open Beta 2: Download.
- Copy the downloaded file to your phone’s main internal memory.
- On your phone, go to Settings > System > System updates.
- Tap on the settings gear icon > Local upgrade.
- Click on the update file now.
- Install the file.
- Your phone will ask you to reboot it. Reboot and find the latest Android Pie Open Beta 2 running on it.
