The new update will change the firmware version to Android 8.0 Oreo. The new firmware also brings the new Emotion UI 8.0 which is also known as EMUI 8.0.

- This firmware guide is only for the Huawei Mate 9 LON-L29. Check your phone’s model number under Settings > About device before going ahead. Flashing this on any other phone will brick it.
- Charge your phone up to 80% to ensure that it doesn’t die during the installation process.
- Backup all your important contacts, call logs, SMS Messages, and media content. This is important so that you do not lose your data during the installation process.

Update Huawei Mate 9 Pro to Android Oreo 8.0.0.323 using HWOTA Tool
- Download HWOTA_LON.zip file and extract it on your computer’s desktop. You will get the HWOTA folder with all the necessary files inside.
- The bootloader of your Huawei phone must be unlocked in order to follow these steps. In case you have an unlocked bootloader, you can skip this step.
- It’s time to rename the downloaded files for the Huawei HWOTA tool now. Rename the files as follows.
- update_data_full_public.zip file to update_data_public.zip file [only removed full from the file name.]
- update_full_hw_usa.zip file to update_all_hw.zip [removed full and USA.]
- Copy the extracted HWOTA_LON.zip file/folder to your phone’s SD card now.
- Copy the downloaded and renamed update files to the HWOTA\update folder inside your phone’s SD card now.
- Now run the update.bat file from the HWOTA extracted folder. The tool will ask if you have already copied the files. Press any key to continue from here.
- Now connect your phone to your PC. In the opened command window, enter the command adb reboot bootloader and this will take your phone into the bootloader mode. Do not close the command window.
- HWOTA tool will automatically install TWRP recovery on your phone now.
- Now disconnect your phone from your computer. Boot your phone into TWRP recovery by powering it off, now press and hold Volume Up + Power button to enter TWRP recovery.
- Connect your phone to your computer while you are in the TWRP recovery mode.
- Since we copied the HWOTA folder in your phone’s SD card, you will type 1 in the command window and press enter.
- It will ask you about the update type. You will type 1 and press enter button 2 times now.
- It will now install the files now and update your Mate 9 to Android 8.0 Oreo in a few minutes. That’s all.

- Download Huawei Updater – Download Link
- Download and install Huawei HiSuite – Download Link
- Extract the Huawei Updater file and run the HuaweiUpdater.exe file.
- In the Updater, check the Custom ROM and Custom Port boxes.
- Now in the Custom ROM bar, enter the ROM version for your phones model number. For example, you will enter LON-L29 8.0.0.323 (C432log) for this model, LON-L29 8.0.0.323 (C636log) for the Asian ROM and LON-L09 8.0.0.323 (C432log) for L09.
- Copy the custom ROM URL from above. Paste this link address into the Custom ROM URL in the updater tool.
- Now click the Start button and accept the warning/agreement.
- Connect your phone to your computer now and wait for HiSuite recognizes your phone.
- In the HiSuite tool, go to Settings > General > custom Proxy and make set these options as
- Adress: 127.0.0.1
- Port: 41279
- Now get back to the main menu in HiSuite and click on System Update.
- Now click on Update and let it download the firmware.
- HiSuite will start downloading the firmware and automatically install it on your phone. That’s all.
