Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 T719 has received a build of the LineageOS 16 based on Android Pie. If you have been running your Tab S2 T719 on the Android Nougat so far, it’s time to update it. The official updates of the Tab S2 8.0 ended at Android 7.0 Nougat. The only way to update this tab to any higher version of Android is by means of a custom ROM like the LineageOS 16. The LineageOS 16 is built out of AOSP sources. The custom ROM has got the major features working fine. In a few minutes, I will show the steps to update Galaxy Tab S2 T719 to Android Pie via LineageOS 16. Before doing so, it is important to learn a little bit about the Tab S2 8.0 and the LineageOS 16 custom ROM.

In September 2015, the South Korea phone maker released the Galaxy Tab S2 series as its premium tablet lineup. The Tab S2 came in two sizes i.e. the 8.0-inch and the 9.7-inch. There were different variants of the Galaxy Tab S2 having GSM and WiFi versions. In 2016, Samsung revised the Tab S2 series. It launched the T719N variant as the 2016 model of the Tab S2. The Tab S2 T719 is the 8.0-inch variant having the GSM capabilities.
Galaxy Tab S2 T719 comes with an 8.0-inch Super AMOLED display. This device has a resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels. The Tab S2 T719 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 CPU. It has a RAM of 3GB with 32 or 64GB of internal storage. At the back, this device has an 8MP camera. It has a 2.1MP camera on the front. The Tab S2 8.0 has a 4,000 mAh battery inside. It ran on Android Lollipop out of the box. It was updated to Android Marshmallow and then Android Nougat later on.
LineageOS is the most popular custom ROM available for thousands of Android smartphones. The latest version of LineageOS is the LineageOS 16. This version is based on Android Pie. LineageOS 16’s unofficial builds are already out for a handful of smartphones. The Galaxy Tab S2 T719 is also one of those lucky devices.
At the time of writing this post, there are two features that are broken in this ROM. The broken features include the in-call Audio and the SELinux is permissive. Rest of the features including the Bluetooth, RIL, WiFi, Camera, Audio and Video Playback are working smoothly.
If you do not use your Galaxy Tab S2 for making phone calls, you may find this ROM pretty good. It is still in its early stages. The ROM will only improve with every single day passing by.
Those of you who have had an experience of flashing custom ROMs in the past, they may proceed with the ROM installation without worrying about anything. The newbies, however, should pay extra attention to all the steps in order to avoid a mishap.
That’s pretty much it with the installation of Android Pie on your Tab S2. The first boot can take several minutes. Do not lose patience in the meanwhile.
