A few days ago we got to know that Samsung will be refurbishing Galaxy Note 7. The company will be equipping it with new ‘safe‘ batteries and sell them in emerging markets like Vietnam and India. Then a spokesperson from Samsung India refuted the report saying that the refurbished Galaxy Note 7 units will not be sold in India. This statement left the possibility open for other markets. According to new information Samsung will be selling refurbished Galaxy Note 7 handsets in South Korea.
The device will be given the codename Grace R, with R representing the Refurbished units and it has been assigned the model number SM-N935. The software specs of the device would be the same. The battery and the rear panel of the device will be different. This would be a good way to recycle the components and the extra units that the company has at hand.
Protesters from Greenpeace showed up at Samsung’s MWC event stating that the company should recycle the components that they have. With this news it seems like that both Samsung and Greenpeace will get the best out of the deal. Samsung will get to recover some of their investment from selling the refurbished units. In addition, users will also benefit from the deal as they will get the Note 7 at a considerable less amount. As of yet Samsung hasn’t shared whether these devices will get periodical updates or not.
So, what do you say, if a refurbished Galaxy Note 7 lands in a market near you will you dare to get it?
