Samsung to procure batteries for Galaxy S8 from Sony

Samsung is never going to live down the battery exploding debacle of Galaxy Note 7. After extensive investigation, Samsung made the report of Galaxy Note 7 public last month in which two issues were identified, i) the irregular battery size and ii) manufacturing flaws in the battery. To assure consumers that they are working on making their upcoming devices safe Samsung has decided to get batteries for their flagship from Sony.

The Korean tech giant, will be procuring lithium-ion battery packs from Sony.  Samsung seems to be diversifying the supply pool for their batteries. A few weeks ago we got to know that they will be getting batteries from Japanese company Murata Manufacturing. With the new information at hand, it seems that there will be three suppliers: Samsung SDI, Murata Manufacturing and Sony.

Samsung as assured that their 9 step battery testing process will ensure that the batteries are safe. With LG taking a dig at Samsung with their teasers of ‘Reliability. Check, Check, Check‘, the company needs to work on their marketing and branding too.

The company will be showing off the promo on 26th at the MWC along with announcing the dates for Galaxy S8 official announcement. Well Samsung’s new test will start right after people get their hands on the device with onlookers assessing on whether the battery will crash and burn or not.
