Samsung Galaxy S8 to feature Facial Recognition

Samsung will ensure that its upcoming S-series flagship, Galaxy S8 has the best features on board as this is the first flagship that they announce after the unfortunate discontinuation of Galaxy Note 7. According to a new report, Galaxy S8 will feature facial recognition. This update comes amidst the news that Apple will also be introducing facial recognition with their anniversary edition device, ‘iPhone 8’.

Samsung with Galaxy Note 7 introduced the  iris scanning technology. But the company says that there are still issues with accuracy and speed, so to counter and to make devices even more secure they will be introducing bio-metric facial recognition.

Due to some limits of iris scanning such as speed and accuracy, we have decided to add facial recognition to the Galaxy S8. With a face scanner, it will take less than 0.01 seconds to unlock the phone.

With Galaxy S8, Samsung went back to the board and worked on its redesign and its features. For Galaxy S8, Sammy removed the iconic home button, so that they could work on a bezel less display. Well, they have been able to achieve just that if the leaked images are something to go by. In addition, the smartphone will be equipped with the powerful Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 in some markets, which have been produced using the 10nm process making it faster and more energy efficient. Along with that Samsung will also be debuting its own AI assistant, Bixby. So, with all these developments show that the company knew that it was either ‘going big, or going home’. Well with the mentioned features they chose going big.

So, this new development come as a series of new features that Samsung is equipping Galaxy S8 with. Whether this feature makes it way in Galaxy S8 flagship will be found on March 29th on which the smartphone will be officially announced.
