Samsung Galaxy S8 & S8+ global launch delayed, device to hit market on April 28

The latest rumor making way across tech-town suggests that the global launch of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ has been delayed. Now the smartphones will hit the market on April 28th instead of earlier cited April 21st. Even though the devices have not been officially announced, people are eagerly awaiting to get their hands on the devices.

No particular reason has been cited for the delay. Samsung usually unveils S-series flagships at the MWC and the device hit the market at the end of Q1 or at the start of Q2. With the announcement for Galaxy S8 set for 29th March, the smartphone was to land in markets on 21st April.

Samsung wants to be careful after the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco and are working on extensive tests so that Galaxy S8 does not face the same issue. But we suspect that the low yield rates of the processors used are causing the delay. Galaxy S8 and S8+ make use of  Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 which have been produced using the 10nm fabrication process. Even though Samsung has gotten first dibs on the chipset, industry sources has already predicted that the unsatisfactory production numbers for the 10nm chipset will delay the flagships this year and we can see one of the results.

LG initially was planning to make use of Snapdragon 835, but they were unable to get their hands on the processor to use it in LG G6. Due to this they decided on using Snapdragon 821. Both Samsung and Sony’s flagships will land in the market in Q2.
