Samsung Galaxy S8 gets certified by Chinese product testing agency CCC

How can a day pass by without any news regarding Samsung Galaxy S8. Just last week unlocked Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ recieved the FCC certification in the USA. Now Galaxy S8, with the model number SM-G9500 got certified by the Chinese product quality testing agency CCC (China Compulsory Certification). For any imported product that has to be sold in the country, it first has to get the CCC certification.

This means that the smartphone soon will be heading for its TENAA certification. TENAA is a Chinese regulatory body equivalent to FCC in USA which decides whether the smartphone is fit to be sold in the country or not. As Galaxy S8 has passed the initial hurdle we will begetting to know about its TENAA certification in the coming days.

According to the filing, Samsung Galaxy S8 will have the model number SM-G9500 in China and most probably Galaxy S8+ will end up with SM-G9550. The basic model number assigned to Galaxy S8 and S8+ is SM-G950 and SM-G955 and this will change a little to indicate variants belonging to different regions. Like the devices which received the FCC certification in USA had the model number SM-G850U and SM-G955U for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ respectively.

Samsung will be announcing Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ on March 29th in dedicated events taking place in New York and London. Knowing Samsung, the presentations are going to be impressive as Samsung has to impress people with their latest flagship, after the Note 7 disaster. The smartphones will feature a 5.8-inch and a 6-2-inch Super AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The devices will be equipped with Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 processor for some regions. The devices will run Android 7.0 Nougat and will be powered by 3,000mAh and 3,500mAh battery respectively. Along with that, Samsung’s own AI assistant, Bixby will be making its debut with these devices.
