Samsung always launches different variants of its flagship devices for the Chinese region. This time, the Galaxy S6 for China has three different variants modeled as SM-G9200, G9208, G9209. If you’re going to get hands on any of these variants and you also happen to be an Android power user, you sure would want to modify the device by applying different tweaks or installing root applications. But before doing any such thing, you will need to root your device and install a custom recovery. If you’re looking out for a method to do any of these, you’ve already spotted the right place.
In the following guide, we are going to install TWRP recovery and root our beloved Chinese Galaxy S6 SM-G9200, G9208 & G9209. To be on the safer side, make sure that you perform all the operations according to the instructions listed below. If you are not confident about this, we highly recommend you not to go ahead and stay away from root and recovery. Let’s go through some early preparations and then install recovery and root.

Hi Usame,
I went through your tutorial though somehow Odin3
won't pass the "NAND Write Start!!". After a couple minutes I get a
message Complete(Write) operation failed. OSM All threads completed.
(succeed 0 / failed 1).
I've got a G9208 and used the latest Odin version (3.10.6) as well for your linked TWRP file.
Any idea what may cause such?
@jaapzuidervliet:disqus this happens because of PIT file. You need find a PIT file for your device and flash it using the PIT tab, after that flash the TWRP and it should go fine.
hi Usame,
am facing a similar problem as Jaap below, i've seen your response. so where do i find the PIT file? i've got a G9200
@chilundika:disqus Leave this file for now, find a stock recovery for your S6 variant and flash that to check out if Odin works fine or not. Let me know if you manage to succeed.

how to convert please the img file tar md5 file?
does this process makes it possible to install Google Play? And also, when I put my phone into download mode (by pressing vol down, power, home) the characters are in Chinese and I cant understand any of it. Can you help me with it?
@nigelnearng:disqus you try installing Play Store and Play Services using an APK file.
If that doesn't work, you may consider flashing a custom ROM which might help you removing all things Chinese from your phone.
Does it work with any samsung s6? For example G9208ZMU2DQB1
only for Lollipop firmware. There is a different guide available on our site for Marshmallow firmware and also for Nougat.
The Phone want turn off after flash i must press the 3 Buttons to shut the Phone.
After Flash The Phone won`t come in Recovery mode :(
@frhlichm:disqus when flashing's finished, press and hold Volume Down + Home + Power key. As soon as the screen goes black, switch from Volume Down to Volume Up key. This will take you to custom recovery.
Hey which firmware does this work on Lollipop 5.0.2 or for 5.1.1?
@reddeadseries:disqus Both.
