I followed the instructions here exactly but got stuck at the Super SUMe part. Firstly, when KingRoot was done it did NOT restart on its own. (Not sure if that is pertinent to the next part.) Secondly, when I attempt to open Super SUMe it prompts me that if KingRoot is still in app drawer upon completion to go ahead and uninstall it from the app drawer. As soon as I hit the start button in Super SUMe the app shuts down on its own. Do you happen to have any recommendations for how to proceed?
@rich_thayer:disqus here on the original thread, you will find a method to replace Kingroot for free. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/root-samsung-sm-j120a-galaxy-express-3-t3573646
See if it works for you.
All worked fine for me up until it installed Kingroot. No android icon or anything, just a "100" written on screen and some weird device optimization features. It also says "No root permission, feature unavailable" when I click on the Advanced Permissions button.
Nevermind, I figured it out. Before I found this thread, I tried installing kingroot. It was a failed attempt, but it left some files over after I deleted the app. I plugged the phone into my computer and deleted all of the kingroot files left over, and retried the above method. It worked! Thanks!
Bricked my Express 3 that was purchased from AT&T. I probably should have downgraded the firmware... I just bought this phone a few months ago.

If the phone is soft-bricked, you can flash a firmware to recover it immediately.
