Release of 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models delayed till May or June

News related to Apple‘s new iPad Pro line up has been confusing as the dates keep on switching. Earlier it was reported that Apple will be launching their new iPad Pro’s in the second quarter of the year but a report out last week contradicted that claim suggesting that we will be looking at the new tablets in March. Apple is planning to hold a media event next month and they will be announcing some refreshers for iMac’s, a red colored iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be showcased along with a 128GB base memory iPhone SE.

Now the latest report suggests that the 10.5-inch model and the 12.9-inch model of iPad Pro’s will not be releasing in March and will be arriving in the markets somewhere around May or June. As said earlier, that the new iPad’s were supposed to hit the markets in the first quarter but production and supply issues have pushed that to the second quarter.

According to the information that we have, Apple will be announcing four new iPad’s this year. They will be showcasing  a 7.9-inch model, 9.7-inch model, 10.5-inch and a 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The 7.9-inch and the 9.7-inch models will be entry level iPads and the 12.9-inch model will be an incremental upgrade from the first generation model. The 10.9-inch model will be different with narrow bezels and slight curved display. Both the 12.9-inch and 10.5-inch models will be equipped with A10X processor, while the 9.7-inch model will have the A9 processor on board.

The tablet market in the last few years has been abound with declining market shares and sales. So, Apple is diversifying their lineup and plan to include new features that will make the iPad Pro’s even more functional for the consumers. For that to happen, it is important that the some differentiation is created between the products offered, if the smartphone and the tablet will have the same features and functions, people would not vouch for getting multiple devices. Apart from that people do not upgrade their iPads and other tablets on yearly basis like they do with their smartphones.
