Refurbished Galaxy Note 7 will not be sold in India

Yesterday a report out of South Korea suggested that Samsung is literally planning bring back Galaxy Note 7 from the dead. The company is planning the devices and sell them off in emerging markets like India and Vietnam. But a new update suggests other wise. A spokesperson for Samsung India has denied the development stating that there is no such thing in motion and confirmed that no refurbished Galaxy Note 7 units will be sold in India.

The spokesperson stated, ‘The report on Samsung planning to sell refurbished Galaxy Note 7 smartphone[s] in India is incorrect’. Well the spokesperson only confirms that the refurbished units will not be sold in India, there is a strong chance that other markets may still get the device.

Samsung incurred a huge loss after the discontinuation of Galaxy Note 7. So, to recoup some of the loss, they will be refurbishing the devices but swapping their batteries. At the time the device was discontinued, it was making use if 35oomAh battery, which will be swapped with a battery with a 3000mAh to 3200mAh power. In addition the rear of the device will also be changed but the rest of the features will be the same.

As these will be refurbished units they will sell at a low price point as the goal is to sell off the device, not create any competition or drama. One of the questions that arises is that will be the refurbished units, like other devices that Samsung has receive regular system updates. If that is not the case then is it wise to choose a refurbished unit over other devices which offer updates and even warranty for their devices.
