Pokemon GO developer will release a Harry Potter AR game in 2018

Did you enjoy being a long-term Pokemon GO member and go on an endless quest to capture rare Pokemon? Well, you can thank Niantic Labs for that and the game developing studio has something else that will interest those who love the fantasy genre. According to a report from TechCrunch, enthusiasts of the Harry Potter series are going to enjoy this latest development, because the studio is going to be releasing an AR game for mobile phones.

The name of the new mobile game is going to be called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. Aside from Niantic Labs, it is going to be co-developed by Warner Bros. Interactive’s sub-brand Portkey Games. Though there has not been an exact date provided, the timeline has been set at 2018, which also means that the mobile game can be delayed towards the end of 2018 too.

While there is scare information about Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, we are pretty sure that it will involve several gameplay elements that we have already seen before. This will range from collecting power-ups, defend locations and explore new environments. Niantic has not detailed what sort of hardware you will need to start playing Harry Potter: Wizards Unite and no information has been delivered regarding which operating system is it going to be released for.

We do know this, however, in order to run AR-related games, you will need to pack some serious hardware under your smartphone. For Android-running devices, Google recommends that you have at a bare minimum, a Snapdragon 821 if you want to start playing Daydream-ready content, so under that comparison, the Snapdragon 835 and its successors should effortlessly be able to handle what Harry Potter: Wizards Unite might deliver in terms of graphics.
