Oppo set to become world’s first smartphone maker to use Gorilla Glass 6

Oppo, the famous Chinese smartphone maker has been in the news for all the right reasons these days. Oppo is innovating the smartphones to drive the smartphone industry in a new direction. Oppo wants to take the further lead now by using the Gorilla Glass 6. Just a few days ago, Corning announced the Gorilla Glass 6. The Gorilla Glass 6 comes with significant improvements over the Gorilla Glass 5.  

According to Corning, the Gorilla Glass 6 is 2 times more durable than the Gorilla Glass 5. The Gorilla Glass 6 can survive 15 drops from up to 1 meter and it can handle more pressure. Corning has used a new chemical compound to build the Gorilla Glass 6. So far, the flagships of various manufacturers were protected with the help of Gorilla Glass 5. Now that the Gorilla Glass 6 is out, it will become the industry standard.

Recently, Oppo released the Find X. The Oppo Find X brought the Chinese manufacturer enough of the spotlight. Oppo also released its flagship R15 some time ago. Both the Find X and the R15 make the use of Gorilla Glass 6. Now that Oppo is gearing towards the launch of R17 and Gorilla Glass 6 is also out, we are expecting it to use the latest protection.

The Oppo R17 is also said to have some incredible specifications. The phone will reportedly have dual camera setup. Leaked pictures have suggested that there is no fingerprint scanner at the back of the R17. The R17 will probably use Face Unlock or it might have the fingerprint scanner under its display.

The R17 will come out when it has to. However, the recent series of leaks makes this a very interesting smartphone. If the R17 uses the Gorilla Glass 6 for real, it will definitely put Oppo ahead of the competition. The Chinese smartphone manufacturers are making a mark these days with Huawei becoming the world’s 2nd most popular smartphone company.
