OnePlus 5: How to boot into Recovery, Fastboot and Safe Mode

OnePlus 5 is one of the best smartphones ever produced by the Chinese manufacturer. OnePlus 5 comes out running a combination of latest hardware and software. The device runs on Android 7 Nougat. It packs up a Snapdragon 835 CPU with the RAM options of 6 and 8 GB. OnePlus 5 has a dual camera setup on its back. How to boot OnePlus 5 into Recovery mode

Recovery mode is the gateway to performing all the operations within the bootloader of your device. In recovery mode, you can find options like booting into the Fastboot mode, booting into the system, wiping cache of your phone or simply factory resetting the device which also means a hard reset. Here’s how to boot OnePlus 5 into Recovery mode.

  1. Turn off your OnePlus 5 completely.
  2. Now turn on your OnePlus 5 by pressing and holding Volume Down + Power Key.
  3. As your phone boots up, release the keys and let it boot into the stock recovery.
  4. The recovery mode will come up showing you the options like Install from USB, Wipe Cache and Data, Advanced and Reboot.
  5. You can now perform your desired operation by tapping the options on the screen.

How to boot OnePlus 5 into Fastboot mode

The Fastboot mode is responsible for allowing you to flash recovery images and other files with the help of ADB and Fastboot commands. Fastboot mode resides in the bootloader of your device. You can boot into this mode and connect your phone to a computer. After connecting the phone to your computer, you can apply commands using ADB and Fastboot command window. Here’s how to boot into the Fastboot mode on your OnePlus 5.

  1. Power down your OnePlus 5.
  2. Now turn on OnePlus 5 using Volume Up + Power key.
  3. Keep the keys pressed until the Fastboot mode appears.
  4. Let the keys go once you are in the Fastboot mode.
  5. You can now connect it to your computer and perform the operations.

How to boot OnePlus 5 into Safe Mode

Safe Mode can disable all the applications and processes running in the background on your phone. Booting up Safe Mode enables a user to check if an application or a process is slowing down a smartphone or causing any other issue. This issue helps you to diagnose a number of issues caused by a particular application. Booting into Safe Mode on your OnePlus 5 is easy. Follow these steps to boot OnePlus 5 into Safe Mode.

  1. Reboot your OnePlus 5.
  2. As soon as it shows a logo/text on screen, press and hold Volume Up + Volume Down key.
  3. Keep the keys pressed unless the phone shows your home-screen.
  4. Let the keys go once you are on your home-screen.
  5. You should see a Safe Mode watermark on your phone’s screen now verifying that it’s in the Safe Mode.
  6. That’s all.
