Next year, your iPhone could get a dual SIM feature

Apple’s A11 Bionic chipset shreds through the competition such as the Snapdragon 835, Exynos 8895, Kirin 970 and others. However, Apple does not seem to favor faster LTE speeds on the latest iPhones but next year could see a change being brought to the table.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the 2018 family of iPhones will get an Intel XMM 7560 and Snapdragon X20 LTE modems, both of which will be capable of unleashing gigabit LTE speeds.

“Antenna design upgrade a key factor in anticipated boost to LTE transmission speed in new 2H18F iPhone models. As a LTE antenna FPCB material, LCP is superior to PI in properties related to high-frequency, thermal performance and moisture resistance. We predict 2H18 new iPhones will be equipped with two LCP LTE antenna modules same as iPhone X or more, but with higher specs to support 4×4 MIMO standards.”

While Apple is focusing on adding modems that will be able to deliver 1Gbps download speeds, some devices launched this year already feature a Snapdragon X20 chip. The Kirin 970, for example, features an LTE chip that can show off download speeds up to 1.2Gbps.

However, carriers are nowhere close to delivering those speeds so it would be kind of pointless to invest in faster LTE chips when you cannot even take advantage of their speeds. What Apple could be working on is making a faster chipset for its smartphones so that they do not feature any form of competition going into 2018.

There are three models that have been rumored to get announced in September 2018. Apple has also been rumored to release a bezel-less iPhone that will feature an LCD screen but will carry a smaller price tag than the iPhone X. In this way, customers will get to experience that beautiful edge-to-edge panel and will not have to pay $999 just to feel new smartphone technology in their hands.

Will you buy the iPhone X or will you wait for next year’s models?
