Invitations are out for LG’s 26th February event at the MWC

Will LG be the one to beat at the MWC 2017? Well, it looks as if that is the case indeed as they plan to unveil their flagship, LG G6 at the event. With Samsung out of the MWC race, as they plan to announce the Galaxy S8 on 29th March, LG has a chance to shine bright. LG has been very strategic about how they are going to maximize their visibility in their arch-rival, Samsung’s absence. The company has started sending out invitations for the event that is schedule for 26th February, just a day before MWC 2017 kicks off officially.

The invitation is quite ingenious as it asks to ‘See More, Play More‘. This is also one of the hints that LG will be unveiling the G6 at the event, as the tag line for LG G5 invitations was ‘Play Begins’. The use of the word ‘play’ is not only about games but hints to the experimentation that the company is doing with the device. The first one being an unusual aspect ratio that is being used for the display. LG G6 will be making use of 18:9 aspect ratio for its LCD display, rather than the usual 16:9. This is what Dr Byeong-koo Kim, Senior Vice President of LG Displays had to say

We expect to maximize user experience and customer value through the super high-quality display with its new 18:9 aspect ratio, which sets it apart from conventional displays for smartphones. LG Display will continue to set new standards in premium mobile displays, based on its differentiated technology.

The invitation also hints to the size of the display that will be 5.7 inch. This will allow users to ‘See More‘ hinting at the visual experience that awaits users. Along with that in a recent update LG has assured consumers that their battery will not over-heat as they have used heat dissipating pipes. This is a direct jab at Samsung. All is fair in war and competition and LG seems to be taking this element with their marketing strategy, giving out hints every other day for the ‘ideal smartphone‘ so that the hype builds. LG G6 will be unveiled on 26th February at the MWC and will be launching in different markets on 10th March.
