LG K20 Plus was released back in December 2016. The device comes with a 5.3-inch 720 x 1280 pixels display. LG K20 Plus runs with Snapdragon 425 CPU accompanied by Adreno 308 GPU. The phone has a RAM of 2 GB and its internal storage options are 16 and 32 GB. LG K20 Plus was released running on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. This mid-range device has a battery juice of 2700 mAh. It has a 13 MP camera at its back and a 5 MP on the front.
LG K20 Plus was recently favored with a TWRP recovery. TWRP allowed LG K20 Plus owners to flash SuperSU and root their smartphone. Apart from rooting the phone, TWRP also opened the gateway towards a whole new world of customizations on this phone. You can now easily flash custom ROMs and MODs on the phone. It’s easier to make Nandroid backup and backups of other partitions of the phone. You can also wipe Dalvik cache easily now.
Although it’s not officially recommended to install a custom recovery on an Android phone, if you’re an Android enthusiast, you can flash it to unleash the true potential of your smartphone. With the root access, you can install new features on your phone. It’s possible to enhance the battery life and performance of your phone with the applications that work with the help of root access.
Assuming that you have an understanding of a custom recovery and root access, we will now proceed with the method. Let’s have a look at the steps to install TWRP recovery and root LG K20 Plus.
Prerequisites
Downloads
You will get the Minimal ADB and Fastboot directory in one such location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot and you will also get the Minimal ADB and Fastboot.exe file on your desktop.
Disclaimer: Flashing TWRP recovery and rooting your LG K20 Plus will make the status of your phone custom. This will not let your phone receive OTA updates and it will also result in voiding its warranty. You can only receive OTA updates after flashing a new stock firmware on your phone. While following this method, you are completely on your own. In case of a mishap, TechBeasts or the device manufacturers may not be held responsible.
To boot manually in to TWRP recovery mode, unplug USB cable from your LG K20 Plus and turn off your device completely by keeping the power key pressed for a while. Now press and hold Volume Down + Power Key to turn on your LG K20 Plus. As soon as your phone’s screen turns on, leave the Power Key and keep the Volume Down Key pressed. Your device will now boot into TWRP recovery mode.
