Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is the successor of Samsung’s premium tablet line, the Galaxy Tab S. Galaxy Tab S2 first appeared back in July, 2015. Just like its predecessor, this device also carries an elegant design and a premium look + feel. Galaxy Tab S2 comes in two variants. The one we are going to talk about in this post is the 8.0-inch variant of the Galaxy Tab S2 which comes under the model numbers SM-T710 and SM-T715. Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 is equipped with an 8-inch display with a resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels and 320 ppi. This device is powered up with a Quad Core CPU clocked at 1.9 GHz and one Quad Core CPU clocked at 1.3 GHz. You may find a RAM of 3 GB under the hood, 32 and 64 GB storage options with an extendable memory card slot. Galaxy Tab S2 carries an 8 MP camera at its back and a 2.1 MP on the front. Galaxy Tab S2 originally ran on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out of the box, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for this device is also there.
The Galaxy Tab S series has liked by many because of its top-notch specifications. Tab S series is a great choice to go with if you’re looking to use a tablet that got some great computing capabilities. It’s spec-sheet, design and build quality definitely kicks away those ordinary tablets available around. If you’re one luck owner of the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0, or if you’re planning to get your hands on one, you may want to extend its functionality by going a little out of the boundaries set by Samsung. To do so, you will need to achieve root access and have a custom recovery installed on your Galaxy Tab S2.
Root access will allow you to install root-specific applications like Titanium Backup, System Tuner, Greenify etc to enhance the functionality, features and battery life of your device. A custom recovery will allow you to create a Nandroid, EFS, system backup and also allow you to wipe cache and dalvik cache along with many other handy features. Installing a custom recovery and rooting your Galaxy Tab S2 is going to be pretty easy as we have compiled up the method in this guide. We’ve picked up TWRP recovery, which is one of the only two available custom recoveries for Android. In the first part, we will help you to install TWRP recovery and then we will flash CF-Autoroot to root your Galaxy Tab S2. Let’s go ahead now and install TWRP recovery and root your Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 SM-T710 and SM-T715 running Android 5.0.2 or Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
