Huawei Honor series has brought a lot of respect in Huawei’s house. Last year we saw Huawei Ascend G620S, also known as Honor 4 Play and Huawei Honor 4X coming out. Honor series does a great justice with the price it gets offered in. We saw the 4X equipping a 5.5-inch 720p display having a 5 MP selfie shooter. At the back we found a 13 MP shooter capable of recording 1080p videos. Huawei powered the Honor 4X with its HiSilicon Kirin 620 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 CPU. The device is either powered up with Mali-450 GPU or Adreno 306 GPU. Huawei Honor 4X runs on Android 4.4.2 out of the box, but the device recently received Android Lollipop update. Huawei has the plans to update this device to Android 6.0 Marshmallow as well. Huawei Ascend G620S is considered to be the younger brother of Honor 4X carrying some low-end specifications. This device is also known as Honor 4 Play.
Its been a long while since this device is around. This time is enough to make the users bored of the stock stuff on this device. In the last 1 year, we witnessed a great number of custom stuff including Mods and custom ROMs raining on the development forums. How I can do this?
@disqus_c1vj4JiCqz:disqus
When the recovery flashing is over, you will end up having Fastboot screen on your phone showing different options. You've to select recovery and boot into it. Alternatively, you can boot into recovery using this command in adb: adb reboot recovery
Hmm...I haven't got any options. The screen is the same.
When the TWRP flashed successfully and I hold and press volumen up + power key the phone turns to the Huawei recovery..
@disqus_c1vj4JiCqz:disqus Can you please tell me what does the log say when you issued the command: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img ?
terget reported max download size of ... bytes
sending recovery
okay
writing recovery
okay
finished
@disqus_c1vj4JiCqz:disqus Have you unlocked the booltoader? And Can you please try this?
Download this recovery.img file from here: https://s.basketbuild.com/filedl/devs?dev=dianlujitao&dl=dianlujitao/cherry/twrp2.8.7.0_cherry_en_f2fs.img
Open the folder that you got after extracting the zip file of Minimal ADB and fastboot.
Delete the existing recovery.img file from that folder.
Copy the newly downloaded recovery.img into the Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder and rename this file to only "recovery.img".
Once done, flash it using the instructions listed above.
You only have to change the file, nothing else. Check if it works for you or not.
All the same. I don't know what I did wrong. The bootloader is unlocked. I tried the volumen up + power key combination but just the honor logo come in. And I can't do factory reset.
@disqus_c1vj4JiCqz:disqus I'll look into some solutions and update you soon.
Thank you so much! You are a good person!
I have a problem, that when i check Root access it says:
"root access not properly installed on this device"
but i did everything step by step like in guide.
When i got to Root checker, it says that root access was not properly installed.
I was doing everything with guide.
What should i do now ?
@hubertmalinowski:disqus try installing this SuperSu and update me if it works or not: http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133
I'm sorry to say this, but SuperSu doesn't work with G620S. I have downloaded and tried your SuperSu file and didn't work. But Superuser works, but it binary it's too old.
@NestorSandoval:disqus try installing this version of SuperSu and update me if it works for you or not. http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133
Finally I did it. I installed SuperSU in G620S. Version 2.46, by zip flash. But i have no idea about how i did it. I flashed almost every version of SuperSu that i got.
But thanks for your kind reply.
@NestorSandoval:disqus didn't you install SuperSu by zip flash earlier?
Of course I installed flash SuperSu earlier. But, for some strange reason, Supersu refused to work properly in this device. I think that it began to work when i installed flash Superuser first, and then SuperSu, one after one. But i was so tired at that moment that i can't remember exactly how i did it.
