Samsung’s Galaxy Grand Duos (GT-I9082) sports 5-inch Super AMOLED display having 187 ppi and resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The device is powered up with a Cortex A-9 Dual Core chipset clocked at 1.2 GHz and a RAM of 1GB is also placed under the hood. The device is good to play with when it comes to root required applications and installing custom roms and flashing mods. So, if you are looking to do so, you’ve spotted the right page. We’ll learn today how we can gain root access on Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos GT -I9082 running on Android 4.1.2 or Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
Verified by myself – this method works flawlessly!
Before we begin, I would like you guys to take some precautions.
While rooting your phone, please keep it in mind that the Root Process isn’t official and has nothing to deal with Google Inc and the device manufacturer, which is Samsung in our case. Follow the guide carefully to prevent any damages to the device as the method is completely custom.

Make sure that you have battery charged over 60 % and have backed up all your important Contacts, Call Logs & Messages. It is highly recommended in case of any mishap or data loss to backup all your important data. Also make sure that you use the original data cable to connect to your PC, other cable will cause problems.
Now wondering what to do with your rooted phone?
Here’s the answer for you!
Rooting your phone gives you complete access over all the data which is apparently locked by the manufacturers. This includes removal of the factory restrictions and making changes to the internal system and the operating system. Gaining the root access gives you the privileges to install various applications to enhance the performance of your device, allows you to remove the built-in applications/programs, helps you to upgrade the battery life of your device & install the apps which require the root access for the proper functionality and modify your device in so many other ways e.g using mods and custom ROMs.
The OTA updates rolled out by the manufacturers wipe the root access on your phone. In case you don’t know how you can restore the root access after OTA update, you’ll have to root your phone once again, but there is no need to do it as you can restore it using the OTA Rootkeeper App which is available in the Google Play Store. The app creates backup of your root and simply restores it after any OTA update.
That’s all. We hope that you find our guide helpful and easy to use. In case you got any problems, feel free to leave us a comment, we will try our best to sort it out. Thank You All!

@shamsheer_alam:disqus you do not have to flash the SuperSu.zip. You have to place that file on your device's storage and flash it from the recovery. Please follow the above tutorial carefully.
I have bought Grand Dous I9082 on 21/10/2013 which has come with Jelly Bean 4.2.2 preinstalled with BaseBand Version "I9082DDUBMI1" and Build Number "JDQ39.I9082XXUBMI1" ....I found out that this is the latest andriod version released in the early october of this year...So the above root process is not working for my mobile with this baseband version...So can u please find me a way to root my phone...please help me
@saisandeepdammati:disqus can you please explain where are you facing the problem? I may be able to help you out accordingly
@usamamujtaba:disqus as explained in the above process of rooting i have set my phone in download mode and used odin to install " CWM-touch_i9082_chotu.tar.zip" and the odin displayed "PASS"....but after that when i try to get into the recovery mode by pressing Volume Up+Home Button+Power Off i am not getting into the recovery mode....which means the CWM is not installed....i even checked the root status of my phone after installing CWM by using root checker app...it says no root access...dont know wat to do...can u please help me
@saisandeepdammati:disqus kindly uncheck the ''auto-reboot'' option in Odin while flashing the CWM, when it says pass, remove your phone and remove the battery, wait for 30 seconds and then re insert the battery and try turning on your phone into recovery mode :) Hope it helps.
Unchecking the 'auto-reboot' and removing the battery after the 'PASS" notification worked for me. Thanks!!!

@asphaltsapporodragstar:disqus Wipe data and cache using recovery, if it still doesn't fix, you need to reflash a stock rom. Follow this tutorial: https://techbeasts.com/2013/08/30/galaxy-grand-duos-gt-i9082-android-4-2-2-updatedownload-it-here/

@disqus_vnkdHhV93w:disqus install rom manager and update your cwm recover using it, & also make sure that your phone's version is exactly as stated above.
or try doing this. In cwm recovery select ''install zip>toggle signature verification'' and disable it. Try flashing the fix recovery and su now and it should work fine. Kindly let me know if the solution works for you.

@usamamujtaba:disqus it seems that when i plug my phone into my computer the ODIN program wont read my galaxy, as the ID:COM doesnt turn blue or yellow. i've done everything in your instructions and i keep getting the same problem.
Did you try turning on USB debug mode?. Make sure that you put your phone in download mode properly!
ok i forgot to do that part.. but now ive run into another problem.. ive done the instructions to install the CWM and when i go into recovery mode it says 'no command'??
Flash the recovery properly. You're probably doing something wrong or missimg some steps.
I face the same issue as @saisandeepdammati:disqus
When tried to enter CWM mode Vol+ + Home + Power. It just goes to power loop.
Have also tried with Chotu's.tar image. Still same.
Also tried following @usamamujtaba:disqus but no luck.
Version: I9082DDUBMJ1
Build: JDQ39.I9082XXUBMJ3
O.S: 4.2.2
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
@anish_pillai:disqus There is a new method above, use that it should root your phone now.
@usamamujtaba:disqus Thanks. I had already tried your method. but that too failed.
Same condition. Only enters Boot Loop.
Seems these CWMs do not work on new i9082.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
@anish_pillai:disqus The method i attached above, works perfect. Make sure that your phone is Galaxy Grand Duos, Follow this guide to the letter. The screen shots attached above are from my very own Galaxy Grand running Philz Advanced CWM, I suspect that you are missing some step or doing something wrong.
Please do this. Flash a stock firmware, and then flash this recovery and flash SuperSu as explained above.
@anish_pillai:disqus Also make sure that you are pressing the 3 button combination properly to boot into CWM. I also suspect that the previous cwm method has crashed your recovery, you might have to fllash stock firmware and then root and install cwm using this method.
