Google has rolled out Android 5.1 Lollipop for its recent flagship devices. Samsung and other manufacturers are still struggling to roll out Android 5.0 Lollipop for some of their devices. Samsung has rolled out the update for its top of the line smartphones, but a huge audience that owns mid-range and budget Galaxy devices may be still waiting for a good news from Samsung, which is unlikely to come out. Galaxy Mega, one of its-own-kind device introduced by Samsung a few years ago ran on Android Jelly Bean out of the box and received KitKat later on. The device does have some nice hardware specifications, but the users may be a bit disappointed after coming to know that this device won’t be receiving Android Lollipop.
If you’re a Galaxy Mega 5.8 owner and you still want to update your device to the latest iteration of Android, a custom ROM maybe a choice for you. By means of a custom ROM, you can have the taste and feel of pure Android Lollipop firmware. The one we have found for you is the most popular, CyanogenMod. CyanogenMod 12.1’s unofficial builds have started landing on development forums, and Galaxy Mega 5.8 happens to be one of the lucky devices to get this ROM very early. All basic features of the phone are found to be working in this ROM, there maybe minor bugs as we can’t guarantee the complete functionality of this ROM. Apart form the CyanogenMod 12.1 ROM, we have also mentioned the well known Resurrection Remix ROM , which is also quite stable and offers unofficial Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for the Galaxy Mega I9152. Let’s go ahead and pick up your desired custom ROM and install unofficial Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on your beloved Galaxy Mega 5.8 GT-I9152.
Early Preparations
Disclaimer: The methods involved in flashing custom roms and rooting your phone are highly custom and may result in bricking your device, and has nothing to do with Google or the device manufacturer that is SAMSUNG in our case. In case of any mishap we may not be held responsible. Follow these instructions to the letter to avoid any mishap or bricking. Make sure that whatever you do, you are doing it at your own responsibility.
How To Install Android 5.1.1 Lollipop On Samsung Galaxy Mega I9152 Using A Custom ROM
First boot may take up to 10 minutes, you may not worry if it’s taking that much long. In case it’s taking too long, you may boot into TWRP recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache and reboot your device as it may fix the issue. what do i do when i can't flash the SuperSU with TWRP?
try to install supersu with odin,,,,
its not working..
tried it thrice but everytime i'm receiving the following error message "failed to verify whole-file signature
@darpanarayans:disqus Which custom recovery are you using?
It seems little difficult to do these all steps and sometimes it is getting failed.
Please tell me the easiest way to update for lollipop. I am using samsung mega I9152.
If you're on stock JellyBean 4.2.2, you should update to stock KitKat 4.4.2 FIRST, then do all this stuff!
THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO TO LOLLIPOP. Can't you follow simple steps? If you cannot then don't bother with Lollipop. If you are trying to follow the steps and you are having a problem, why can't you just say at what step you are failing? How can anyone help you if you can't do that???
But when i am trying to root it ,,it is failed..and i am bored while using jelly bean.plz help me me out to upgrade it in lollipop.
@disqus_QhFF0QrUvh:disqus what error are you exactly getting?

@arun_mor:disqus which gapps did you flash? you need to flash Gapps for Android 5.1.1 Particularly. Let me know which one you've flashed so that i can help you.
Dude, the link in the article was to Gapps for Android 5.0.X - it would have been much more sensible to put the link to Gapps for Android 5.1.X which is here https://techbeasts.com/2015/06/16/download-google-gapps-for-android-5-1-x-lollipop-all-roms/
@cvangelo:disqus at the time of writing the article, Gapps for Android 5.1.1 were not available. However, the link has been updated now.
Step 7 is INCOMPLETE! You are suppose to also wipe SYSTEM and DATA partitions as well!
@cvangelo:disqus nope, performing a factory reset in a custom recovery will do the job for you. Wiping System and Data partition isn't necessary.
There is an Early Preparation Step MISSING! Some Samsung phones have a locked bootloader depending on the operator. You need to UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER before you try to flash the ROM. This ROM can only work with an UNLOCKED bootloader! If you do not unlock the bootloader, you will not be able to flash the ROM on phones where the bootloader is locked.
@cvangelo:disqus usually carriers lock their devices, and carriers do not go with the generic variant of the device. you will find the I9152 variant unlocked all across the world.

hi.. i am facing the same issue as jaya prakash. After flashing with Gapps Stock Modular Package For Android 5.1.x Lollipop and then rebooting the system, it says unfortunately google apps have stopped working and click "Ok". This keeps on repeating and can't pass this through. Please help.
@disqus_dtFlbLCOPA:disqus Try flashing a different GApps package and then wipe cache and dalvik cache. Check if it works after doing this or not.
I got the issue. It was the version of GApps which was being installed. Though I was installing for android 5.1.1 but it was not solving the purpose. Then I looked for a dynamc version of GApps 5.x.x which will work on any android version going forward from here. It worked for me. Thanks for this article. I spent 8hrs today to do this. pheww.
download pa gaaps mini modullr package it will work
just go to settings and clear the data of google play store then reboot your system after rebooting sign in again and the i gues it will work... al the best ..
